LEAD 2021: Goal Setting

Happy New Year! As we enter the new year, a clean slate, a fresh start, it is a great time to refocus our goals. Through LEAD 2021 our Texans create goals, make plans on how to reach their goals, and track their progress on the goals. As a campus, the new semester gives us an opportunity to check our progress on our goals and revise our plans to meat and exceed the goals.

As a campus, we will continue to work toward accomplishing our Campus Improvement Plan goals (click here to see CIP). The goals are analyzed quarterly with CEC reviewing progress in November. Bransford team leaders will spend part of Monday afternoon reviewing progress toward our campus goals.

My personal goals for myself and our campus include:

  • Being more intentional about making connections to the work our Texans are engaged in and Portrait of a Graduate also known as the GCISD 5 (skilled problem solver, collaborative worker, global citizen, self-regulated learner, and effective communicator).
  • Establishing at least one tech night for parents to share how technology is being used enhance learning at Bransford. Mark your calendars for Thursday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Focusing on integrating reading and writing workshop into the classroom. Teachers received reading and writing materials, thanks to a generous grant from PTA and will be engaged in continuous professional learning during February, thanks to a wonderful grant from our GC Education Foundation.
  • Extending and enriching for our all of our students to provide our Texans opportunities for social, emotional, and academic growth throughout the school day and beyond.

If you have any thoughts about the goals above or in our CIP or additional goals, please let me know.

Looking forward to a great second semester as we continue to build an excellent school together!

Tuition Based Pre-K

In an effort to continually serve the families of Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, the district is investigating the feasibility of a tuition-based Pre-K program, beginning in the Fall of 2016. Those families who have a child who will be four-years old, on or before September 1, 2016, may participate in the program, depending on community interest.

As with any of the district’s special programs, families must enter into a lottery to be selected. If there is enough interest in the tuition-based program, then the lottery will be held for spots at pre-determined campuses. The proposed site locations are Bear Creek Elementary, Bransford Elementary, Colleyville Elementary and OC Taylor Elementary. These campuses were selected based on current and projected student enrollment and building capacity.

Families who are interested in learning more about the tuition-based Pre-K program are invited to attend the GCISD Special Programs Expo on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Cross Timbers Middle School at 6 p.m. At the Expo, district representatives will be available to answer questions about the proposed program. If you would like more information about the proposed tuition-based Pre-K program, click here.
