The Leader in Me MRA Parent Survey
Let us know your plan for next year!
In order to organize our class rolls for the next school year, we are asking parents to let us know if your child(ren) is/are returning to Clover Hill next year. Please indicate what your child(ren)'s school plans are for next year. This will also help us prepare your child(ren)'s records for transfer to another school. Complete one form for each child. There is no need to complete the form for your 5th grade child entering middle school. You can also use this form to provide input for next year's teacher placement (not request a specific teacher).
A Message From the Principal
Dear CHES families,
May is flying by! Please thank your students for doing such a great job during SOL Testing. As a reminder, a passing score on an SOL is a 400. Students can also earn a "pass" if a certain level of growth was made from an SOL taken the previous year. This is a great change the state implemented last year. If a student fails the test by a small margin (375-399), parents are offered the opportunity to have their child retake the SOL. The state has made many positive changes with testing over the last few years. Some of those changes include reducing the number of questions on the reading and math by nearly half and also implementing adaptive testing for math and reading (meaning the level of difficulty is adjusted based on student responses). We have been encouraging our students to not let the SOL stress them out, but we are also reinforcing the importance of trying their very best. The SOL does not indicate whether or not your child is promoted to the next grade level, but it does impact state accreditation for CHES. I'm proud to say that CHES has made improvements each year and I'm confident we will continue to do so! Please be sure you are aware of when your child is testing and give them a pep talk!
Click here for the SOL schedule. Please keep in mind, small group testing will be communicated separately. Please have your child(ren) leave all devices (smart watches, fit bits, phones, I pods, regular watches, etc.) at home during their SOL testing dates. We greatly appreciate your cooperation with this.
