IB CAS Project
Rowland IB students started a Rowland Crochet Group and handmade cozy beanies to donate to our Family Resource Center for their Holiday Baskets. Hermione Lam, Dylan Cheng, Bryan Zhao, and Matthew Santos all spent countless hours crocheting beanies because they wanted those in our community in need to have something warm and soft to wear in the winter season. Although the group’s initial goal was to make 20 beanies, they were able to make 40 beanies altogether. Hermione first taught the three of them how to crochet, and they would then meet up during their free time at school and get together on the weekends to crochet the beanies. Hermione spent 300+ hours teaching and crocheting, while Dylan, Matt, and Bryan each spent 200+ hours crocheting. Even though Hermione started teaching them how to crochet for their IB CAS(creativity, activity, service) project, Dylan, Matt, and Bryan still continue to enjoy crocheting in their free time, and hope to donate some more to the community.
IB Art trip
Rowland IB students toured The Broad and Moca in Los Angeles as part of an inquisition into how we gain knowledge through an artistic lens and learn about the different styles and forms of contemporary art. As a perk of the inquisition, students were able to see the Flight of Angels, enjoy a variety of foods at Grand Central Market, and appreciate the architecture of the Disney Concert Hall.

🫶 Weekly Wellness
This month’s theme is kindness. Kindness is more than being nice - it is intentional behavior that is sincere. It can take practice to understand it and feel it but the best part of kindness is that it is contagious and makes everyone involved feel better. Has anyone ever made a difference in your day by a simple gesture of kindness? How did it make you feel? Did you want to return the act by being kind to others? Make a difference and spread kindness.
