This Is How We Lakeview
November Edition- Volume 2
PLSD to stay in hybrid model
On Monday, November 9th, the district made the decision to remain in the hybrid model due to the rising number of cases in Ohio as well at the current 'red' status of Fairfield county. This means that we will stay with the cohorts and students will only attend school in-person 2 days a week. We will continue to evaluate our local numbers on a weekly basis, and when a decision is made to return, we will provide at least a week's notice.
During a statewide address on Wednesday evening, DeWine announced that he would be reissuing Ohio's mask order. We want to do our part to ensure that our students are properly wearing their masks. We make announcements every day, but your help is needed. We greatly appreciate you having the conversation with your student that not covering their nose with their mask is like not wearing one at all and that everyone needs to do their part. Students who are not following the PLSD face covering policy are subject to school discipline.

Important update from our school nurse
Pickerington Local School District has changed the policy on when students can return after illness. Students must be fever and symptom free for 72 hours without the use of medication to return to school. This is a change from 24 hours.

New or worsened nasal congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Do not send students to school if they have 2 or more of the following:

Introducing Lakeview’s new Community Corner!
In an effort to include families more in our work to support our students, we are launching the Community Corner section in the This is How We Lakeview newsletter. The Corner will be updated weekly and include information about upcoming student meetings (Change Chats), student features (eVoLV), requests for family input, and updates based on what we heard from you.
Change Chats - Each month, our school counselors, counseling interns, and members of the administrative team invite students to attend a Change Chat during their lunch period. The focus of the Chat changes each month and provides students and staff an opportunity to talk about issues the students see in the building and what everyone can do to change those issues for the better. Last month, we held our first Change Chat for both cohorts about how welcome and valued all students feel in the building. Students shared some concerns and ideas they had about how to make Lakeview a more inclusive place to all students.
eVoLV (Every Voice of Lakeview) - Similar to the Humans of New York features on social media, eVoLV will feature anonymous stories of our students, their experiences, their backgrounds -- all to highlight the unique person each student is and the stories that make us who we are as a community. You will find new eVoLV features in each Community Corner update.
The Lakeview Family Feedback Form - This form will be linked in each Community Corner update, allowing families to offer feedback to the counseling and administrative staff regarding social justice, mental health, academic support, friendships/relationships, etc. Counselors and administrators will review the feedback on a weekly basis and send out any updates to concerns/questions in the next Community Corner update.

CHANGE to positive COVID-19 procedures
We have 1 change to the procedure that we originally shared with the Lakeview families; please see the underlined/bolded portion below.
- A letter is sent to the entire building (both cohorts) stating there is a confirmed case
- A classroom letter is sent to any person who is in class with the individual
- The district office calls and emails anyone who is considered to be in close contact with the individual with specific instructions on next steps. The county health department may also follow up with these individuals
Families who do not receive a personal phone call are deemed to not be at risk based on contact tracing guidelines for the case in question
