MJS Kinder Press
October 5th, 2015 - Week 4
Kindergarten Parent Coffee - Wednesday, October 7th, 2015
Come and meet some of the enrichment teachers and hear some tips from the teachers for a successful school year!
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Kindergartners and other students may wear pink accessories this week in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Accessories may include bows, barrettes, hair ribbons, socks and belts.
Kindergarten Curriculum
Math-
In math we practiced making a growing pattern (for example, each row grows by one - 1, 2, 3, 4). We also have begun to compare and order numbers through 10. This includes putting the vocabulary greater and less into practice with hands-on manipulatives.
Religion-
We continue to study the amazing lives of some of the Old Testament heroes of the Bible during religion. This past week, we learned about Joseph and his colorful coat. It is a story that teaches us about making good choices in difficult times and real forgiveness.
Language Arts-
The kindergartners are finishing working on Alf, who loves camping and being outdoors. In our rotations last Friday, the kindergartners had a chance to experience "camping" in Mrs. Heupler's class. Tents were pitched and s'mores were roasted adding to the experience of learning about the outdoors with Alf!
For the upcoming week, we will be introducing a new character from the SUPERKIDS series and the students will continue working on rhyming and middle sounds.
MILK AND JUICE -
The online sign-up option for milk and juice has concluded. If you are still interested in enrolling your child in this program, you may sign up at the front desk. Please bring a check in the amount of $50.00 payable to Mayfield Junior School and Beth Stavros, our front office Administrative Assistant, will process any orders submitted for your child.
