Social Studies Weekly
Year 6 Volume 22 ~ February 25, 2019
Some of you may already be aware of this. But for those of us that did not know this new feature was available, thank you.
Here is what you do: open a Google Doc that you want to be translated. Make a copy of it. Click on "Tools"- "Translate Document"- select the language. While the translation may not be spot on, it will definitely help our ELL students. Provide your ELL students with a copy in English and their native language. Viola! Thank you!
Be kind... spread the word!
For specifics about each benchmark, click the appropriate link below:
It is not necessary to "review" before the benchmark. If you do plan to review, there are review activities linked on the landing page of each content area in PSL/Haiku. Just look under the title "Content" Benchmark and NC Final Information.

Civics and Economics
This unit provides a great opportunity to show students that they can make an impact on laws that are proposed. Newsela has several articles that show the impact students can make.
American History 1
This week wraps up our study of the Revolutionary Era. As you examine the weaknesses of the Article of Confederation, this activity, which goes over the economic needs of the new nation, helps to reinforce the need for a new government. When looking at the Federalist and Anti-Federalist debates over the Constitution, try using the documents from Teaching American History. The documents can be found starting on page 99.

Message from Melissa
A) It is still a long, long time until Spring Break.
B) Spring Fever is about to hit the students, although it has already started.
C) There are only 4 weeks left of the quarter after this week.
But, I have great faith in all of you. You will make it through with grace and ease.
Have a great week!
Melissa
