Students in Mr. Knight's class worked with a partner to learn and practice interpreting specialty maps (elevation, population density, and annual rainfall). Each group was then challenged to create two questions for each map type. Questions were typed into a Word document that students saved to a flash drive, safely remove the flash drive, and print to a selected printer. Below, students are shown in various stages of that lesson.
Fun Stuff in 2nd Grade!
In second grade our students are studying “Communities” as part of their Social Studies curriculum. In the upcoming week the second grade students in Mrs. Junod’s class will be working to construct a 3D floor model of Rural, Urban, and Suburban communities. (Even a model of Pearl Buck Elementary will be constructed and on display. Do you know what part of the community it will be included in?… C4 knows!) It promises to be a fun, exciting, visual learning experience for the whole class.
Our Pearl Buck second grade students will be having their annual “Pumpkins on Parade” celebration the week of Oct. 26. Creative pumpkins will be on display in front of our second grade classroom in both our B Wing and C Wing for the full week leading up to Halloween. We are looking forward to seeing the unique and wonderful creations our second graders are sure to create.
Second grade learned to read a recipe for Apple Smiles! The kids enjoyed following the steps and eating the results!
Function over Form
We are off to a great start in the music room this year! Students are listening, singing, playing and moving - as well as reading and writing music. Our fourth grade chorus has over 75 members and is already practicing for our holiday concert. Pictured: Mrs. Bader's second grade class singing "Michael Row the Boat Ashore" while rowing the boat on the beat!
