Inservice Reminders
You should have received an email which indicates where you need to be and what you will be doing on Monday. This is an inservice day, not a teacher workday. Therefore you are expected to dress as you would for any school day. Please remember that jeans are allowed only on Wednesdays with our Positive Wednesday shirt, or on Friday with a school spirit shirt. Tennis shoes are only allowed on Fridays unless you have a doctor's excuse indicating the need to wear them.
It is my personal philosophy that our students deserve the best we can give them and that includes our attire.
Thank you,
Dr. H
Academic Communities - Crests
Mr. Mireles has agreed to help us "polish" our crests. They are going to be fantastic. We hope you and your students are excited about the final project. Remember, we still need to get head shots of each student in each community, too.
PLCs - When, What, and Why
Department Chairpersons, please email Dr. Holmgreen with the day and class period for your department's PLC meetings.
TPO - What is it, Do it daily - cognitive verb--reference it.
For those new to TPOs, they the daily objective written as follows: "Today we will (cognitive verb) content and share ideas using (product). Examples:

Do We Teach On Our Feet or Do We Teach On Our Seat?
There's an App For That!
One of the neat features available on this app is a timer. Did you know you should be checking for understanding about every 8 minutes? There is an easy to use timer that reminds you to do these frequent checks. There is also a feature called "Quickchecks" that provides you with about 20 different ways to check for understanding. There are also Resource Content Builders such as thinking stems and various instructional strategies.
Check it out!
Student-Led Conferences Coming Soon
During these conferences, the work will be done by the students. Teachers will be there should parents wish to speak with them, but the students will be leading the conversations with their parents. Students will need a portfolio of their work to share with parents, so you need to begin saving their work now. These portfolios will include work that the students choose but it will also include at least two assignments that you choose to include.
Watch this newsletter and/or your email for additional information, and please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Holmgreen, Ms. Cavazos, or Mrs. Rising should you have any questions.
