Greetings Clairemont CREW:

We have been having an awesome time here at Clairemont Elementary. We celebrated the 100th day of school in kindergarten and the students looked amazing. They had a lot of fun activities that they were involved in on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020. The second grade students took the STAMP test for their Spanish elective and first grade had the opportunity to learn to make connections between two individuals and two pieces of information. The Clairemont CREW is truly working and the evidence is being shown. Ask your child about some of the great things that are going on at Clairemont and remember community circle is tomorrow Friday, January 24th, 2020.

Equity Based CREW Meetings

Equity Project Aligns with School Improvement Plan and District Equity Initiatives

The Clairemont staff has selected a set of books to support our Equity Project. Teachers will guide students through a reading of texts that were selected to spark rich discussion and raise students' racial consciousness. Each month we will send out some prompts that go along with the texts we have selected, so you may continue the discussion at home and help promote awareness and understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion.

Nurse Huff-Cox Update

The CDC is reporting an increased number of Flu cases this season and the numbers are expected to climb. In an effort to decrease the spread of communicable illnesses at Clairemont Elementary please practice the 4 Principles of Hand Awareness from Henry the Hand with your child:

  1. WASH your hands when they are dirty and BEFORE eating.

  2. DO NOT cough into your hands.

  3. DO NOT sneeze into your hands.

  4. Above all, DO NOT put your fingers into your eyes, nose or mouth!

Please put a change of clothing in your child’s backpack to be used in case his/her clothing becomes soiled due to wetting, muddy from outdoor play, etc. This will prevent students from missing valuable classroom learning instruction and you from leaving work, appointments, etc to bring clothing to the school.

Upon notifying the teacher of student illness, please inform the school nurse as well. This information is necessary so that the nurse is aware of communicable illnesses that may require surveillance. Your support of this request is greatly appreciated. Please contact the nurse via email at chuff-cox@csdecatur.net or phone at 404 370-4450.
