September 14, 2020 - URGENT UPDATE
You likely have seen the email from Superintendent Jensen on Sunday afternoon. Detroit Lakes High School will be moving to full Distance Learning potentially through September 25th while we continue to make sure we can bring students and staff into the building safely. We will give you more information towards the end of the week as soon as we can. As always student safety is our greatest concern.
School Schedule for the first Week
Since we have moved to fully distanced learning until September 25th here will be the schedule for the "first week" of school:
Monday, Sept. 14
No learning activities for students - teachers will use day to finalize distance learning plan.
Tuesday, Sept. 15 (Periods 1, 3, 5, 7)
Distance learning all students for odd classes (1, 3, 5, 7). Teachers will connect with students and share information and give asynchronous (NOT live-streamed) lessons to them. Students who need to pickup Chromebooks can make arrangements to do so. Classes will follow the block schedule below.
Wednesday, Sept. 16 (Periods 2, 4, 6, 8)
Distance learning all students for even classes (2, 4, 6, 8). Teachers will connect with students and share information and give asynchronous (NOT live-streamed) lessons to them. Classes will follow the block schedule below.
Thursday, Sept. 17 (Periods 1, 3, 5, 7)
First day of synchronous (live-streamed) classes for all students. Students should plan to attend class at regular times and connect with their teacher. Classes will follow the block schedule below.
Friday, September 18 (Periods 2, 4, 6, 8)
Second day of synchronous (live-streamed) classes for all students. Students should plan to attend class at regular times and connect with their teacher. Classes will follow the block schedule below.
Monday, Sept. 21 (Periods 1, 3, 5, 7) - synchronous (live-streamed) classes for all students
Tuesday, Sept. 22 (Periods 2, 4, 6, 8) - synchronous (live-streamed) classes for all students
Wednesday, Sept. 23 (Periods 1, 3, 5, 7) - synchronous (live-streamed) classes for all students
Thursday, Sept. 24 (Periods 2, 4, 6, 8) - synchronous (live-streamed) classes for all students
Friday, Sept. 25 Distance Friday Schedule - (see below after the block schedule)
Distance Friday Schedule (Starting September 25)
On Fridays, students will check in with all of their teachers. Just a reminder, attendance will be taken on Fridays.
Students are expected to connect with their teachers synchronously (live-streamed) during distance learning. Teachers will take attendance each period. We will start taking synchronous attendance on Thursday, September 17. If a student is sick and unable to be in attendance they should contact the school attendance line, listed at the bottom of this page. If a student has technology issues or has some other reason why they cannot attend synchronously, they should contact their teacher that day and notify them of the situation.

Student Drop Off and Pick up of Materials
Students that need to pick up textbook, materials, band instruments, etc. can pick them up in the Grand Hallway, just inside the W2 Doors. These items should be available by the end of the day today. Students can pick them up tomorrow and Wednesday. Please press the doorbell when you arrive during school hours and office staff will buzz you in. Please wear a mask and stay in the main hallway. If you have questions or need help, please call the school office.
Most of our Chromebooks have been picked up, but if you still need to do so please contact our Media Assistant Jenn Fode 847-4491 x2113 and she can help you arrange a pickup.
Also if you are having issues with a broken Chromebook, please contact Jenn and she can help organize a time to have it repaired.
Chromebook Protection Plan - NOW ONLINE
You can now purchase your child/rens chromebook insurance online thru the school website. Please follow the direct link below to get started. You need to fill one out for each child, if you have more then one student attending the high school add one to your cart for each, then choose which student each insurance is for in the drop box offered. Every student needs to have the form signed whether you choose to purchase or decline the insurance. If you would rather have a hard copy filled out, your child can pick one up in the media center and bring it back when signed by a parent/guardian.
