This Is How We Lakeview
November 2021 Edition: Volume 3
Club Day is Coming!
This coming Tuesday, November 23rd, will be Club Day for the staff and students. Over the past few weeks, students had the opportunity to submit club ideas based on their interests, and those ideas were whittled down to a variety of club topics that we are offering on the 23rd. Staff then selected which club they wanted to facilitate, and they have been working to plan some fun activities for our students. On Tuesday, we will run a modified schedule within the normal school day to allow for two 50-minute club sessions. Session One will run in the morning, right after PAW Time, and Session 2 will run at the end of the day. Please be sure to ask your student about the fun things they did when they get home on Tuesday!
Thank you to our 7th grade parents for your flexibility in getting the students to North High School for the play on Thursday morning when the weather was less than perfect. I appreciate everyone's willingness to alter their morning routines and get our students safely to North.

Native-American Heritage Month
Congress requested that the president proclaim the week of Nov. 23-30, 1986 as American Indian Week. President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation in November 1986 declaring the first American Indian Week.
The proclamation recognized Native Americans as the first inhabitants of the lands and their contribution to American society.
In 1990, Congress requested that the president issue a proclamation designating the month of November as National American Indian Heritage Month. Congress chose the month since it concluded the traditional harvest season and was generally a time of Thanksgiving and celebration. In 2009, Congress passed and the President signed legislation that established the Friday immediately following Thanksgiving Day of each year as “Native American Heritage Day.”
Ohio's role in Native American History: Ohio was home to several Native American tribes.
The list can be found on the Ohio Secretary of State's website.
Ohio is also home to several American Indian sites you can visit.
- Logan Elm, Circleville
- Newark Earthworks, Heath
- Shrum Mound, Columbus

Recent Updates
- Our next Leadership Team meeting with our students will be Tuesday, November 30th. During the last meeting, students started to develop action plans to address their concerns regarding social media and how students are treating one another. We will continue this work during the meeting on the 30th.
- Make sure you have read the info at the top of this newsletter regarding Tuesday's Club Day. Staff and students are very excited to get started, and we hope that we will be able to continue with other Club Days later in the year.
Updates from the Family Feedback Form
- One question came in about Google Classroom pages on the family side, as well as consistent updates on students' grades/assignments. We have included a screenshot below about how to change settings on Classroom so that families can receive more or less frequent updates regarding assignments and missing work.
- For updates from teachers on students' grades/assignments, teachers are required to update Infinite Campus on a weekly basis, so that is the best and fastest way to get updates on any work.
