This Week In Alison
Highlights from the amazing life of Alison Marie Kampmann
Je Suis Une Artiste!
Over the long weekend Alison decided she needed a passtime, one she could safely do with a cocktail in hand. When asked why she chose watercolors she replied, "If Monet can do it, why can't I?"
She started off with a flower tutorial but found them to be "stupid" and "boring" so cracked open a beer and began her first of a series of Puppy Portraits. Lily lying down with one super cute perky ear was the second in her continuing series. This masterpiece, along with her first, Squish!, are on loan to The Kitchen Gallery in Nashville indefinitely.
Mom Came For A Visit
What's the best way to waste a perfectly good Summer weekend? Invite your parents to visit.
Two precious weekends ago Alison's mother and father drove 11 hours from Florida for a "vacation". They attended various fabulous events and activities including the Grand Ole Opry, sightseeing in downtown Nashville and Franklin, fancy house gawking, golf at the Brentwood Country Club, and of course, shopping at Publix.
Alison was extra excited once they left because she soon found that her father had left a half-full bag of tootsie pops and her mother a box of wine.
And the winner is...
Alison and her adoring husband Alex competed in the annual Brentwood Country Club Scramble.
Still awaiting final results but as of the 14th hole, Alison was in line to win Closest to the Pin for the ladies. She plans to buy a Fresh-Cut-Grass-scented candle from the ProShop with her winnings because "cut-grass is the smell of victory."
And when asked what she will do next year differently, Alison replied "Wear socks and smuggle a bloody mary or two."
In related news, the couple saw their lawn guy on his motorcycle on Sunday afternoon while they were walking their pack of crazy beasts.
