I cannot begin to explain how amazed I was by the many gestures of appreciation for our teachers and staff that I observed this week. Children with broad smiles carrying a simple flower to bouquets to students creating beautiful cards...just precious. Then, of course, the daily treats from PTO which someone took hours to put the finishing touches, the breakfast and the duty free luncheon for which parents volunteered supervision--all made for wonderful tributes to our school family. Thank you so much!!!
Congratulations to Anna Cully as she was the first place winner for elementary in the Lexington One Cooks event show cased here at Midway! There were participants from 4th grade through 12th grade. It was a true pleasure to see these young people take a risk and compete with their recipes and cooking skills!
The calendar is very busy! Our Run Hard teams run in their 5-K morning so we wish them the BEST! SC PASS (Science and Social Studies) Testing for 4th and 5th Graders and Thursday. To them we also wish the best as they shine in showing off all of their learning! Then we have the all day Chick-fil-a Day on Thursday! We are rocking the events. Finally, on our 100-Mile Club will have their culminating event at River Bluff High School Track! We are very proud of these students and Mrs. Gates for sponsoring this opportunity!
Do note that there is a BIG Lexington One event evening at the River Bluff High School Preforming Arts Center ! We have "Dancing With the Stars" which supports our Lexington One Foundation. Mr. Poole, one of our parents, will be showing his talent. Do join in for the fun!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Guidance:
Thank You to our Vehicle and Career Day Participants!
Our 1st and 2nd graders were able to see a variety of vehicles and learn about what kind of skills are needed for each job.
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders visited different booths at our grade-level Career Fair. Students were able to ask questions, get a taste of what it is like to use some of the tools necessary for different careers, and understand about how what they are learning now could help them with a future career.
"Attention all parents/guardians!" We need your feedback!
Please take a quick moment to fill out the MES School Counseling Program Survey. We will use your responses to help design the programs that will be available for students and parents during the 2016-2017 school year.

Boosterthon is Coming!!! THE MIDWAY FUN RUN
THE MIDWAY FUN RUN
We’re raising funds for Field Trips and Teacher Development!
This year’s MAIN FUNDRAISER is the Midway Fun Run! Hosting a Fun Run means there is no selling or delivering products. Family and friends anywhere in the world can support our school by giving pledges toward the number of laps your student will run on the day of the Fun Run on Friday, May 20.
Our Fun Run program will last about 2 weeks—from Tuesday, May 10 – Friday, May 20. Students will experience an exciting Pep Rally, families will have time to get pledges, and on the last day, students will run in the Fun Run! Every student, no matter financial participation, is invited to run in the Fun Run.
Also, our Fun Run comes with a world-class character theme. This year’s theme is BIG WORLD RECESS, a global fitness theme all about building character through sports. During the Fun Run program, students will travel our big world learning how to play with character from REAL kid-athletes in other cultures.
How Can You Support Midway Elementary School?
#1. Starting on Tuesday, May 10, register your child on funrun.com.
#2. Reach out to sponsors—friends and family who could donate to help our school.
#3 Ask your child about the BIG WORLD RECESS Character Play of the day.
#4 Come cheer on your student at the Fun Run on Friday, May 20th. Parents invited!
More information will come home with your child prior to the event.
This is the major fundraising event for the year!
Thanks in advance for supporting Midway Elementary School.
