Village School's Young Scholars Institute Gifts Have Been Delivered
Thanks to the kindness and generosity of the VES students, families and staff we shared joy with others this holiday season. Last week, VES Peer Partners loaded boxes of food, turkeys, pies, and presents for 43 children and clothing donations into multiple trucks and vehicles. They were bursting at the seams thanks to our wonderful VES and MTSD community. On Saturday, December 16th, Village School staff, their families and the Malhotra family traveled to the Young Scholars Institute in Trenton to deliver the food, gifts and clothes.
Our VES elves, led by our brilliant coordinator and 4th grade teacher, Ms. Hum and her team of VES colleagues, had a memorable morning with YSI Executive Director, Jerri Morrison, her staff and YSI families. Thanks to Mrs. Morrison and YSI Board member, Steve Smotrich, formerly of Montgomery, this partnership celebrates its 22nd year. The looks of wonder on the faces of the children and parents as they walked in to YSI and saw the many gifts, made us feel so proud of the kindness and caring of our VES students. Parents expressed that their children would never forget this holiday and would have memories of it forever. It was such a special day that Channel 6 Action News came to capture the moment, interviewing the students and staff about what this project means to them.
Thank you again for making this project a terrific success!
