ZIS Vision: One Child, Two Languages - Unlimited Possibilities
ZIS Mission: We will provide and assist each student with a well-rounded and differentiated education that is centered around the immersion of the Spanish language and cultures to prepare them for a global society.
Instructional Focus: CO (the what) /LO (the how) --> Comprehensible Input (manipulatives, visuals, hands-on, videos, linked to past learning, linked to student's background, etc.) --> Student Artifacts (PLAN WITH THE END IN MIND)
Also, CPA/Grade-Level Meeting:
1)what do you want them to learn?
2) How do you know they learned it and what does mastery look like?
3) What do you do if they got it?
4) What do you do if they don't get it?

Online gradebook
An updated and accurate grade book is an invaluable tool for all educators. It is expected that grade books will be updated on a weekly basis. Please perform a gradebook report on PowerSchool each Friday to ensure grades are not lost when report cards go out. TPS policy requires a minimum of:
· 2 grades per week for Reading
· 2 grades per week for Math
· 1 grade per week for Social Studies
· 1 grade per week for Science.
· 4 grades per quarter for Specials subjects
· Grades from library projects will be infused into the grade book of the subject it is covering as needed.
Have a GREAT WEEK! You are the best of the best, and I am blessed to be with such great professionals like YOU! This is the best school in the nation!
Rasgo del mes
I promise to persevere until the END of the year along your side!!! Help, support, and love each other. We are a family and I am so happy with you all! Thank you for making ZIS great.

ZIS Family Member of the Week
El Orgullo de Zarrow
I would like to nominate Emily Smith. She consistently tries to support the language of the day during her interactions with the students, she helps students find their next good read by giving them book ideas, keeps the library books organized and shelved, does library stortimes in English and in Spanish, and many other things. Basically, she keeps the library running smoothly so that I can be involved in other things, never having to worry about the students access to the library! She is amazing!
~Sra. Lagers
~Srta. Primo
I nominate Amy Lagers, who is always coming up with new ideas, supporting instruction, bringing in technology in new and interesting ways. She and Emily Smith know the library and every book in it. If I need a resource, they know where to find it. I can even say, “I want a book but I don’t know the title nor the author,” and most of the time they know just what I want! Wow.
I also nominate Emily Tamez, whose class is always calm, working and organized, even though she’s 9 months pregnant and the school year is nearly at an end! She is really working hard right to the end.
~Sra. Ramirez
I nominate Sr. Kellito for giving up his Parking spot so others could enjoy the benefit of having an assigned parking space ESPECIALLY on assemblies days when a parking space is worthier than gold around here. I would like to nominate him for being so positive, supportive and enthusiastic!! For truly taking into account what we think and say.
It's truly a blessing to have a principal like you! Ah! And one more thing: you keep up in shape physically being the BEST ZUMBA instructor in the whole planet Earth!!
Abrazos para ti Kellito!! Mi respeto para usted mi querido Director!!
It's about time you enjoyYOUR OWN parking spot! :)
Sincerely,
Raquel Astacio
(I love you all and am so happy and proud to be with you at school! ~Sr. Kellito))
