Life on Land

A vital goal that needs attention!

The Issue

The Sustainable Development Goal is," To protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss~ in Canada." ("Sustainable Development”)

Physical Land Impacts

Terrestrial ecosystems such as forests, wetlands, drylands and mountains are impacted because of the land being used for development. Deforestation leads to desertification of lands. All of the types of land are being affected as well as being harshly damaged. ("SDG 15: Life on Land.")

This sustainable development goal is vital for Canada

Human Geography Impacts

For us humans land is very important for our survival. Humans depend on land for plants and crops. Agriculture is essential for everyone's survival and health. 80% of our human diet is based on plants and crops, we rely so much on plants that is has become a very vital economic resource as well as for the residential land use.

Rising sea levels are extremely dangerous as this is due to climate change. Deforestation and the massive amount of damage and activity humans have caused in the forests are showing consequences. These rising sea levels affects the low-lying areas and some could even be completely submerged.
