Principal's Update
The following excerpt is from mindful.org:
Robert Emmons, psychology professor and gratitude researcher at the University of California, Davis, explains that there are two key components of practicing gratitude:
- We affirm the good things we’ve received
- We acknowledge the role other people play in providing our lives with goodness
Most of us know it’s important to express thanks to the people who help us, or silently acknowledge the things we are grateful for in life. Research has linked gratitude with a wide range of benefits, including strengthening your immune system and improving sleep patterns, feeling optimistic and experiencing more joy and pleasure, being more helpful and generous, and feeling less lonely and isolated. Interested in reaping some of these benefits? Get started with a gratitude practice.
With a heart full of gratitude, but a busy schedule I often forget to slow down and communicate my appreciation to others. However, each year in November, I work hard to prioritize the habit of gratitude by expressing appreciation to those around me. I have so much to be thankful for and you all are a big part of that. I love our campus, our students, staff, and families. Bear Creek is a really special place because of the people that make up our community.
It is from this in mind that I have selected the November BCC Service Project "Thankful Thursdays." Each Thursday for the remainder of the month, I am asking all of our staff and students to identify three people that they are thankful for and to write them a letter of appreciation. We will have a box at the front of the office to collect these letters. If they are for people in the school, we will get them delivered. If they are for people outside of the school, we will get them mailed (we are going to collect them at the school as a visual for this project).
Thank you for partnering with me on this months project!
With gratitude,
Ross Baker

Health & Safety Update
The Department of Health (DOH) requires schools to inform families and students of COVID-19 cases and potential outbreaks. This week, there were a total of 1 confirmed cases at our school. The accuracy of our data depends on self-reporting. Thank you for continuing to let the school know if your child tests positive for COVID-19. To view additional information, including school and district trends visit the District’s COVID-19 data dashboard. The dashboard is updated weekly on Monday evenings.
If your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 please keep them home and test for COVID-19. Families can order free COVID-19 tests from the state. Together, we can keep our schools healthy and safe.
