There will be a second order placed for any student who was absent on the day of original fitting, new students, or for students whose shoes did not fit.

Reminders and Announcements
- Kindergarten -Thomas has 10 lbs. 9 oz.
- 1st grade - Duff and Jones have 1lb. 15 oz.
- 2nd grade - Poole has 2 lb. 4 oz.
- Special - Shepard has 2 lbs. 12 oz.
- TOTAL so far = 131 lbs. 1 oz.
2. Box Tops for Education - We are collecting box tops to help pay for our PBIS store. Please turn them into Ms. Newsom in kindergarten or put them in the box in the office.
3. Can you name our behavior expectations? Can your students?
4. We are collecting stuffed animals for the Health department as our third quarter service project/community adoption. If you have students who bring in stuffed animals, please keep them in your room. Mrs. Moriarty will come around weekly to get a count and collect them. She will store them all so they don't become overwhelming for you to have in your room. We will be taking donations through March 6th. The prizes will be determined soon!
- PreK and K - Abbott = 293
- 1st grade - Hood = 73
- 2nd grade - Poole = 61
- TOTAL so far = 858
5. Expectation/Procedure Reminders
- Unless you have an extra duty (morning or afternoon), teachers should be on campus by 7:40 am and stay until 3:25 pm. Paraprofessionals should be here by 7:30 am and stay until 3:30 pm (unless we have previously spoken and arranged a different schedule).
- Every time you leave the building, you must SIGN OUT/IN in the office (no exceptions...includes going to admin or another school). Unless you have text/talked to Mrs. Garris or I, you should not be leaving during your prep period. That time is to be used for collaboration with your peers and planning for your lessons. If there is something that you must leave to do, Mrs. Garris and I are flexible, but you must talk to us. When leaving the building, you must go through the main entrance in primary or kindergarten to sign out. You cannot leave by the end doors in each hallway. This is a safety issue. If we go in to a lockdown or have any other emergency, I have to know where everyone is at and not spend time looking for someone who isn't in the building.
6. February 16th will be make up day #1 with students present and certified staff will make up the PD scheduled for that day (6 hours) at the principal’s discretion after school. President’s Day, February 19th is still a holiday and we will make up the remaining 3 snow days on May 30, May 31, and June 1st as outlined in the 2017-18 calendar.

Picture Book Recommendation of the Week
"A sweet story that could be used as a springboard to discussion of the pitfalls of making snap judgments about pets — or people." — SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL
Norman the goldfish isn’t what this little boy had in mind. He wanted a different kind of pet — one that could run and catch, or chase string and climb trees, a soft furry pet to sleep on his bed at night. Definitely not Norman. But when he tries to trade Norman for a "good pet," things don’t go as he planned. Could it be that Norman is a better pet than he thought? With wry humor and lighthearted affection, author Kelly Bennett and illustrator Noah Z. Jones tell an unexpected — and positively fishy — tale about finding the good in something you didn’t know
you wanted.
Motivational Quote of the Week
What the Principal is Reading
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
Above all, this intense, cathartic book serves as a clear statement of the message at the heart of the Harry Potter series: that choice matters much more than destiny, and that love will always triumph over death.
Lost at School by Ross W. Greene
Scorched Shadows by Steve McHugh
