NEWS FROM PRINCIPAL ROY
Happy Spring Break!
Dear Greenfield Families and Friends,
We had a wonderful STEM Day today! Students enjoyed coding, creating "elephant's toothpaste" and building and launching water rockets. It was an exciting day full of learning and laughing together! Check out the pictures below!
Just a reminder that we are spring break next week! I hope the weather cooperates and everyone enjoys some time relaxing and outside in the fresh air and sunshine! Stay safe and healthy because the week after break is NHDI week! We are so happy to be able to bring back this amazing opportunity for our students! We can't wait to put on our dancing shoes and rock the house!
PTO Flower Fundraiser-flowers will be delivered to GES on Friday, May 6th and available for pick up after school or after the evening performance of NHDI.
NHDI RETURNS TO GES!
We are thrilled to return to Greenfield Elementary for a week-long dance residency program! This year, NHDI presents "The Finish Line" incorporating inspiration from Clarence DeMar, 7-time Boston Marathon Champion, educator, and resident of NH for many years. With a focus on high-energy dance, social-emotional learning, and a growth mindset, we take students on a journey to help them conquer the smallest of tasks to the biggest of dreams. How many finish lines do they have in a week, in a year? From start to finish, we are building up their bodies and minds with positive energy they can take with them into the classroom and beyond the school walls for life lessons in excellence, perseverance, belief in themselves, and setting and reaching goals. Clarence DeMar reminds us to "Never Give Up!" The students will be filling up the dance floor with positive energy that is guaranteed to make you smile!
Souvenir T-shirts are available in-school Friday, May 6th for $10! Youth and Adult sizes available - send in cash or check (made payable to NHDI) to the school, and we will help your dancer select their shirt size. Please note this is an optional purchase (all dancers will borrow a colorful NHDI “show” t-shirt on Friday for the performance.) Souvenir shirts will also be sold at the performance.

CONVAL DISTRICT NEWS
GES has a facebook page! You can find the link here:

The ConVal School District has news blog to serve as a hub for the latest updates, information and news about the district’s schools, students, faculty, events and accomplishments.
The blog, ConValNews.com is integrated into the schools and District’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and will automatically broadcast news blog content onto these platforms, connecting directly with the district community.
With a clean, user-friendly and mobile responsive layout, the news blog allows for easy navigation throughout. It can be accessed on computers, cell phones and tablets. Community members can subscribe and be notified by email when new posts are published.
Parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members should still utilize the district’s main website, Convalsd.net, to access the District-wide calendar of events, contact information, school committee meeting notices and minutes, important documents and notices and to view general information about the district and its schools.
COVID-19 Update:
While it appears that COVID infections are slowing and we are seeing fewer positive cases, it is still important for families to monitor children for ANY symptoms and to keep symptomatic children home until they can be tested. If your child presents with ANY of the following symptoms please keep them home and call the school and schedule a rapid test.
- Headache
- Muscle pain or aches
- Sore or scratchy throat
- Cough
- Congestion or runny nose
- Fever or chills
- Fatigue
- Nausea, diarrhea, vomiting
- Loss of smell or taste
The ConVal District updated its guidance on Tuesday 3/1/22 and has moved to make masking optional for students and staff and will no longer be contact tracing per CDC recommendations.
If your child has been fully vaccinated, please send a photo or copy of the vaccination card to our school nurse, Alaina Slocomb at aslocomb@conval.edu for our school records. Per the updated guidance, anyone who is fully vaccinated does not need to quarantine if a close household contact tests positive for COVID-19, as long as they are asymptomatic.
Spring Weather and Outdoor Play:
I think it is safe to say we won't be getting any more big snow storms this year, but April showers sure do keep our playground muddy and wet! Boots are still a good choice for recess this time of year. Warmer temps also mean lighter jackets-students can always remove a layer if they get too warm while playing outside, so we recommend sending your children to school with a lightweight outer layer as the days get warmer.
Pick-Up Patrol:
It is important that you check and update your children's after school pick up plans in Pick Up Patrol each day, especially if they have plans that may change on a daily basis. We will follow the plans that are entered in Pick Up Patrol. It's your responsibility to make sure the plans are correct. Thank you for your help!
In case you missed the news, morning snack/breakfast and lunch are free for all ConVal students this year, however if your child gets only milk at either meal there is a charge of $0.50. Please be sure to add money to your child's lunch account to cover the cost of milk if needed.

STEM DAY AT GES!
The Xploration program offers students enrichment activities that are not always possible in a regular classroom setting. Most enrichments and workshops are adaptable to any age and skill level. All activities are designed to foster Inquiry Based Learning, Innovation, Discovery, Team building and leadership skills. Activities are developmentally appropriate, can happen indoors or outdoors and all come with an emphasis on FUN! Through STEM education and learning experiences, students learn to become problem solvers, innovators, creators and collaborators.
You can learn more about the Xploration Program here: https://nashuaalc.org/for-children/xploration/. There is even a school vacation camp opportunity! Check it out here:

Thank you to the GES PTO for sponsoring another awesome day for all our staff and students!
What's Up in Wellness with Mrs. Parker?
Greenfield Grey Wolves have been learning about the importance of water for their bodies, being safe at home and school, conflict resolution and staying active. They learned and practiced the cues for throwing and catching a frisbee, playing ‘frisbee golf’, as well as many other games. They also played cooperative games and completed challenges like save the planets, cross the river, scarf transfer, and para tossers and had to build a structure using hula hoops.
Enjoy your break!
Stay active, be healthy and be kind.
