Who are we supporting with this FUNdraiser?
For the past 13 years, Watauga High School has hosted a very special, all-male pageant that we call The Mr. WHS Pageant. This pageant began in 2000 when the Student Council came up with this fundraising idea to raise money to help Mr. Lan O’Laughlin, a science teacher and swim coach at the high school who had been diagnosed with liver cancer. Each year, Student Council provides financial assistance for three to four local families who are experiencing hardships. Mr. WHS is a non-profit event and all proceeds from the contest are evenly split and directly given to each recipient.
This year Student Council has chosen three families to receive the proceeds
of the pageant:
The Corrie Freeman Family - 4th grade teacher at HP
The Johnson Family - Father and family in the Watauga community
An Anonymous Family - selected by one of the WCS Counseling Departments
This year the Mr. WHS Pageant will be hosted on March 1, 2014, in the Watauga High School auditorium. See ya there!
