Passion-Driven PD
A Genius Hour Project for B3s
Why Passion-driven PD?
But why does this have to be reserved for just our students????
This year B3s will embark on a Passion-Driven PD project of your own. You will be given the opportunity to explore an area of your own personal interest or passion related to education and will work to complete your passion project this year as you complete your final year's requirement in the BTNT program.
What is a Genius Hour Project
The Process
- What are the questions that keep you up at night?
- What would you learn about if you just had more time?
Plan:
- What resources will you need?
- Who will support you?
- Who can you collaborate with?
Take Action:
- Develop action steps that will allow you to complete your project on time.
- How will you collect data?
- How will you know that you are successful?
Share Out:
- What are the implications for your teaching?
- How did you improve student learning?
- How will you share your findings with your school/ community?
- How will you share your learning with the global education community?
Reflect:
- What were your successes?
- What were your struggles?
- How can you continue your work?
- What will your next project be?
What are the Requirements?
Guiding Questions: Questionnaire
Research- New ideas should be supported by research. Check out these Best Educational Resources to drive your exploration.
Create- What will you create as a product of your exploration? Will you blog about what you are learning, create a new structure or layout for your classroom, join or develop a virtual Personal Learning Network, present at a conference in your field? Your passion projects will drive an output of some type as small or large as you envision.
Present - Check out the MGSD Cook Tools Library for new ways to present your learning.
Reflect Monthly on your Process
April and Damien will post the discussion board each month in the Google Classroom and B3s will receive a notification when it is open.
