Personalised Curriculum Tracking
Term 3 continues to move at a lightning speed. As we head the the middle of the term, each students Individualised Curriculum Tracking Sheet will be updated with the data from the first half of this term. As it has been since the beginning of Term 1, students can access their personalised sheet at any time through their Google Drive.
We offer the tracking sheet in Senior Primary so the conversation about student achievement and success can be continued at home. This term's data focus areas are English, Mathematics and Science. We use the sheets in class to assist students with focusing on where they can improve their achievement against the curriculum and break the mindset of "I'm just a C."
Visible Learning Update
Developing a Growth Mindset
This term as a school we are focusing on developing a Growth Mindset within all students. This week students are working on the concept of "The World of Neurons."
For homework students will answer a number of questions on how they can make new connections in their brain to help build their capacity when learning.
These discussions have been proven by research to benefit students as they journey to becoming lifelong learners.
Continuing the Dialogue
Building a partnership between home and school is a key way to continue to boost student achievement. Continuing the Growth Mindset dialogue at home is a beneficial way to assist your child in seeing challenge as something they can attempt to master rather than something they cannot change.
The Mindset Kit created at Stanford University provides parents with a fantastic set of resources for parents to develop a growth mindset in their children. You can access these resources for free by clicking here.
Curriculum Links
We are often asked as teachers where families can access the curriculum their students are being taught. All curriculum documents are freely available through the Australian Curriculum website. ACARA has developed information for families that outlines what the Australian Curriculum is designed to cover at each stage of your child's schooling.
Click here to access the Information for Families document for years 5 & 6.
Senior Primary Science Expo
Mark your diaries for our Science Exhibition during National Science Week on the 19th of August (Friday of Week 6). Please make sure to RSVP to your class teacher so we can make sure we have enough room in Mercy Place to cater for all families as well as classes in the school.
