Newsletter Week 9 Term 2

Meeanee School 29th June, 2022

Monday and Tuesday afternoon we held our mid year parent interviews. What an amazing turnout of parents/caregivers. Overall I hear from the teachers that they were very good interviews and the support from parents/caregivers for their children's learning is excellent. If you did miss out then contact your child's teacher and see if you can arrange a time to meet.

Papakura interviews will be held next Monday and Tuesday at the same time. Papakura students will remain at school until normal time.

We have just over a week to go until the School Holidays. Hopefully this will be a chance for students to recharge. Attendance this year has been the worst we have seen. Unfortunately with COVID-19 and the Flu going around it has dented attendance. Thank you for your co-operation in slowing the spread. Next term if your child is well please send them to school. It is vital for them to be at school every single week day.

Sports notices need to be returned asap so that Mrs McKay can sort out sports teams. If the return slip has been misplaced please ask for another one.

Be Kind, Stay Safe,

This weeks PB4L focus is:

We will clean up, even if it is not our rubbish.

At Monday morning's assembly we talked about not just picking up rubbish but sports equipment and making sure that we don't leave our uniform lying around.

ASSEMBLY WINNERS - No Assembly last week

Our hard working PTA group has purchased some LEGO SPIKE PRIME (Robots). We have 3 that just arrived and we are so excited to get underway with using them. A small but dedicated group of Year 7/8's have signed up for an after school Robotics Club and have started (in school time) putting together the SPIKE Primes. Also thanks to Mayfair School we have a First Lego League Challenge Mat from 2019 which the students will use to further their knowledge of Robotics before hopefully next year we compete in the Nationals.

Canoe Polo Final

On Saturday, our Year 7/8 Meeanee Maestro's team will be playing in the E3b grade final against Hastings. We wish them the best of luck in their pursuit to win the title.
