A Message From Our Principal
Dear North parents and guardians,
Welcome back to school! We are excited about the new year and the upcoming learning opportunities for your child. Our Mission, which can be found below, is a guide for us to provide the educational experience we believe every child deserves. I wanted to highlight the portion that states “...with the help of parents, educators and our community.” We believe that you are your child’s first teacher and there is a reason that parents are listed first. Our goal is to continually work with the home to make sure that every child is successful. Part of this will come from communication. In order to increase the ease of communication, we have utilized programs such as Remind, SeeSaw, and Google Classroom. Teachers are linking their calendars, resources, and newsletters to the North website to give you real-time information as well. We hope to maintain these often so they are a resource to help keep you involved in your child’s learning. The more you work with your child to support learning done in class, the more success the student will see. The additional links are brief overviews of how to access the calendars (and even download them to your phone with a Gmail account) so you will be informed of upcoming events. If you have any questions, please let us know!

Thank you for your continued support,
Lance McClard, Ed.D.

Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS)
Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach to put behavioral/social skills strategies in place for all students while also building in support for students that may need more guidance. North Elementary will be introducing components of PBIS to teach and encourage the expected behavior. Our expectations are:
- Be Responsible.
- Be Respectful.
- Be Safe.
Please encourage your child to practice these behaviors and social skills at home and in the community.

Counselor's Corner
We are off to another great year. In counseling this month, we will be having lessons on friendship, getting along and learning more about being "bucket fillers." If you would like to volunteer at North, please fill out the form and background check that was sent home and return it to Mrs. Isaac. Please be sure to include your driver's license and social security number on the form so it can be processed. We still need lots of volunteers to help with different activities this year. Forms are available at the office as well.
Coming up: October will be a very busy month! Watch for more information on DisAbility Awareness Week!!!

Notice from our Nurse
Thank you for returning your child's health histories along with other forms so promptly. If you have not returned your child's health history, or other important health-related papers, please do so ASAP. Also, kindergarten parents- please send an extra change of clothes with your child in his/her backpack. This will help in case of accidents that occur at school.
Also if you would like to donate clothes, we are in need of new underwear for boys and girls and shorts for boys and girls.
Because of playground injuries, it is best your child does not wear flip-flops to school. Flip flops break easily and are not sturdy enough for school.

Art Remarks
Welcome back to the art room! I'm very excited to be working with such bright and talented young artists this year. We have already begun creating our artist portfolios and we are starting to dive into projects! This month, we will be focusing on color-mixing, patterns, and more.
Also artsonia is up and running for the year! Looking forward to a wonderful year! Thank you!
Artfully yours,
Miss Hopson
Music Notes
Dear Parents,
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great summer. I am Joseph Moore, the Music teacher at North Elementary. I am very excited about this school year and having your child in class. Just a couple of things to keep in mind……
Students in each grade will be focusing on the following music objectives:
- Using their singing voice, with accurate pitch, to echo simple patterns
- Singing a variety of types of songs…patriotic, folk, call/response etc….
- Playing classroom percussion instruments with correct technique
- Reading and performing a variety of simple rhythm patterns.
Concert Dates (more information will be available later):
- 2nd and 3rd Program “Christmas Around the World” - December 11th
- K and 1st Program “Young McDonald's Farm” - March 21st
- 4th Grade Concert "Graduation” – March 21st
Special Note for 3rd and 4th grade parents
I will be sending home a letter about North Select Singers. This is a choir that will be held after school instead of the morning, like previous years. If your child would like to audition, please send back the form before the scheduled audition dates.
Musically Yours,
Joseph L. Moore
