Message from your Proud Principal
Today we celebrated the 100th Day of School! Parsons students and staff dressed up as centenarians, a person who is 100 years old. They donned glasses, wigs, borrowed canes and walkers, wore curlers, and used suspenders to hold their pants up. We tried to play a little trick on the students by telling them their teachers had the day off and their teacher's grandma or grandpa was the substitute (they were too smart for that!). A few classrooms used an aging app, and the students saw what they would look like when they are 100 years old. They thought it was funny and scary at the same time. Students used creative objects to represent 100, they even looked ahead to the future and wrote about what they would be doing at the age of 100. In art, students prepared pizzas with 100 toppings. It was such a fun day! The best part of the 100-Day Celebration was that everyone was 100 days smarter!
Proud Principal,
Laura Clark

As part of Gwinnett County Public Schools’ family engagement initiative, the school district seeks to empower parents with tools that allow them to help their children at home. Our AKS at Home project provides math and language arts resources to support families of children in grades K-5 so that they truly are partners in their children’s learning. This support is available for families to access in the format that suits them and their schedule best. They can attend live virtual meetings, view recorded information at a time that best fits their schedule, and gain tips and suggestions on how to best help their children through tip sheets on a wide variety of topics.
Tip Sheets and Recordings can be accessed by selecting the appropriate grade level. Recordings will be available at the end of each unit series.

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run is so much more than running. Their tested curriculum blends physical activity with skill development that enables girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. Girls on the Run understands the important connection between physical activity and overall emotional health. Trained volunteers guide girls through research-based lessons which creatively integrate movement in a fun and motivating way. By signing your daughter up for Girls on the Run, you are giving her the opportunity to connect, grow and learn how to navigate difficult situations.
The spring season registration lottery is open through Tuesday, January 25: https://www.girlsontherunatlanta.org/Program-Registration.
Our team is meeting in-person this season. Our meeting days and times are: Monday and Wednesday, 4:00-5:30 beginning the week of February 14. Girls will be dismissed from their classroom at 3:40 for snack and then practice will begin at 4:00. The program is for girls in 3rd through 5th grades. Girls on the Run 5K will be held on May 7. The location is to be determined.
Girls on the Run uses an income-based sliding scale so that every girl who wants to participate can. The program registration fee is available on a sliding scale from $10 to $185.

All Pro Dads is seeking a male guardian to lead the amazing program beginning Fall 2022. From current All Pro Dads Team Captain Josh Holt:
I have had the honor of being the All Pro Dads Team Captain at Parsons ES for the past 6 years. Those Friday morning breakfasts/gatherings with my boys and many of your families have been the highlight of my time at Parsons. Being that my youngest son will be heading to middle school next year, I would love to “pass the torch” to an All Pro Dad (or two) to continue this great program at Parsons ES. Please feel free to reach out to me at 678-687-0195 or holtdaddy2@yahoo.com if you are interested and/or have any questions.
