Message from Mrs. Stauffer
Dear Rainbow Families,
Rainbow Elementary School is proud to join our nation in honoring Black History Month. The celebratory month, also known as National African American History Month, is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in the story of the United States of America and beyond.
During the month of February, our morning announcements are going to take students on a journey through time, across borders, and even space to provide them with a snapshot of the infinite number of contributions African American changemakers have brought to our world.
Each Monday, a short biography will be read during morning announcements. Students will be asked to listen for a quote that will become the inspirational message of the week.
On Thursday we will find out if the groundhog sees his shadow. Will we have six more weeks of winter or will spring arrive soon?
February also brings us Valentine's Day. This month we will be focusing on kindness as a school community. Classroom Kindness and Compliment Parties will be held on Friday, February 10th.Your child’s teacher will be providing you with classroom Kindness and Compliment festivity information. If you are donating a treat for classroom festivities, all treat donations must be store-bought items.

Message from the School Nurse
Hi Rainbow Community,
I am reaching out to ask for your support as we navigate the trifecta of Flu (Influenza), RSV, and Covid. Chester County is experiencing high levels of Influenza A. COVID-19 is at medium level. RSV is most common under the age of 5. These children may have cold symptoms, sore throat, fever, not eating or drinking well. Sometimes, RSV infection can lead to wheezing or bronchiolitis or pneumonia. You should have your child seen by the doctor for proper diagnosis.
Vaccines for Influenza and COVID-19 are available at many pharmacies and Chester County Department of Health by appointment only, 610-344-5405.
Please keep your child home if they are sick. If your student becomes sick at school, you will be asked to pick them up promptly. Students with Influenza can return to school after being fever free for 24 hours without any fever reducing medication and symptoms have improved.
If your child test positive for COVID-19, the must isolate for 5 full days. The first full day of symptoms is Day 0. They can return with a well-fitting mask on Day 6 if their symptoms are improving and fever free for at least 24 hours without fever reducing medication.
This is our district illness policy which can be found on the CASD website under Rainbow:“The following are some symptoms which may mean that your child is ill. Your child should remain at home when he/she has: Fever over 100 degrees, chills. persistent cough or shortness of breath, vomiting. diarrhea, unusual skin rash. severe sore throat, enlarged glands, abdominal pain, or inflamed eyes/eye discharge. A child should remain home at least 24 hours without a fever (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and/or vomiting following an illness. By following these guidelines, you will protect not only the health of your child, but the health or his/her classmates. Note that your child will not be able to attend school if he/she is suffering from untreated pink eye, impetigo, ringworm, scabies, unusual skin rash, severe sore throat, or fever over 100 degrees.”
All the best,
Maria Buhl, School Nurse

Important Reminders
Student Name/Teacher/Date and Time of Dismissal/Reason/Name of Adult picking up and relationship/Parent Signature and parent daytime phone#
All early dismissals should be completed at the main office by 3:00. Students must be signed out. Dismissals after 3:15 will be in the parent pickup line.
The adult picking up must bring a government issued Photo ID (preferably a driver’s license).
Refillable water bottles:Rainbow has transitioned to bottle filling stations. Water fountains have been turned off. Students should bring a refillable water bottle to school..
Transportation: A nationwide bus driver shortage is impacting many districts, including Coatesville, and may lead to increased delays. Buses normally run late the first two weeks of school as students and drivers become accustomed to their routes. We appreciate your patience. If your student is riding the bus, please have them at the bus stop 10 minutes prior to the arrival of the bus.
Parent-Pick-Up Notes: Thank you for having patience with us as we work to make our afternoon dismissal more efficient. Please help up with this by sending a parent pick up note into school with your student. You may send in a handwritten note or download and print the form below.
