Explorations
From 1673-1694 Louis Jolliet set out on voyages exploring and mapping out the Mississippi River from May 17th 1673 to June 17th 1673, Hudson Bay in 1679, Labrador Coast in 1694, and a number of Canadian rivers.
Effects on places traveled
Places Louis Jolliet traveled were all mapped out and contributed to creating new trade routes. Areas previously occupied with natives were influenced by French culture through trade routes providing new items and ideas.
Effects on home country
Louis Jolliet was commissioned by the governor of new france to explore the mississippi river. He later traveled other rivers and became the royal hydrographer of new france. He helped new france by mapping out more accurate trade routes thus for gaining popularity.
