Lakeview Elementary - We Know Every Child by Name & by Need
September 22, 2017
I ran across this quote and it reminded me of the focus of our school, to help students be able to think critically about the world around them.
“Good teaching is more a giving of right questions than a giving of right answers.” -- Josef Albers
We want our students to be able to ask, not just good questions, but the right questions. Each year our campus has an instructional goal. Our goal this year is to model and teach students how to ask and answer questions in order to help them dig deeper into content and to make connections with the world around them. We are off to a great start and more than excited about the rest of our year.
Learner Qualities in the "Real World"
We want to hear from you!
We are always looking for ways we can bring in relevant lessons to our students. Each month we focus on a Lakeview Learner Quality - for September we are looking at the importance of reflection. If you reflect in your everyday lives or in your careers, please click HERE and enter a description of how you reflect and why it is important. We will share your replies with our teachers so they can in turn share them with our students. Please include your name and your profession in your email. We can't wait to read them!
Many Thanks!
Book Joy Club Volunteer Opportunities
Leaders are readers, and we are looking for volunteers to help support student reading success! Reading volunteers will help in the kindergarten and first grade classrooms during the reading instructional block by reading with students and/or engaging students in reading activities such as practicing sight words.
If you are able to commit to at least one to two hours per day OR one-two hours one day per week,or even one day per month, please complete the form below. You do NOT have to be a parent of a kindergarten or first grade student to volunteer! Thank you in advance for helping support student success at Lakeview Elementary!
All volunteers will be required to complete the NISD Volunteer Background Check. Reading volunteers will also attend a training to learn reading strategies, etc.
