We also learned the parts of a stock table and began a scavenger hunt on finance.yahoo.com. The next step is to get into our groups and begin looking for different stocks that we are going to invest in for the simulation.
4th Grade
1) What are some current uses of robots in this industry?
2) What types of robots are used?
3) What capabilities do these robots have?
4) Why are robots used instead of humans?
They will present their research to the group next week. Each group will have 1 slide which is a visual representation of the robots and they are creating songs that answer the 4 questions to the tune of "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." I will be sure to take some videos of the groups presenting to share!

Mathews PACE – Gr. 1 & 2 with Mrs. Pruitt
The first graders reviewed what we’d learned about snow from reading Snowflake Bentley and created a postcard using the computer to share something they had learned as well as designed and sketched a winter scene for it. Our experience with “snow” may be it for the winter in TX. We’ll see what Feb. brings. Since today is Puzzle Day, we played a game of Qwirkle looking for patterns and unlocking puzzles.
Second grade is beginning their new unit titled “World of Wonder”. They, too, used the computer program to type a postcard telling me of their winter break. Some were cozy, hanging out at home, enjoying free time. Others were world travels, telling me of the many places and sites they saw. We examined some atlases looking at the continents and oceans. Still surprises me that it is now considered to have 5 oceans instead of 4…Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic, and Southern. Always something new!
