Week of April 26th
Message from the Principal...
Hello Sunnyside Families,
As we enter the last stretch of the school year, I cannot stress enough the importance of following the district and CDC's Covid guidelines to ensure the safety of our community. The “Finish Strong” guidance affirms the importance of the mitigation strategies that we have focused on this year.
As a reminder, we ask that you report any positive COVID-19 cases to our COVID-19 liaison, Adrianna Collins at COVID19@sheltonpublicschools.org, or our school nurse, Stephanie Elliott, firstname.lastname@example.org or 203.922.3021, so that we can continue to properly contact trace in a timely manner to ensure a safe learning environment for everyone.
As shared in previous newsletters, If ANY member of your household is awaiting a covid test, has been exposed to a positive person or symptomatic should NOT be going to work or school until test results are verified. Although it may not be convenient for you, this is for the safety and well-being of your family and community. Finally, ALL POSITIVE CASES need to be reported to the district or school.
- Wednesdays will remain early dismissal days (1:50pm) for the remainder of the school year for staff to accommodate remote learning.
- As shared at March's BOE Meeting, May 1st is the cut-off of switching between DL to in-person. This means, if you have not switched to in-person learning before May 1st, your child would remain in Full Distance Learning for the remainder of this school year.
- Kindergarten Registration is open. Call the main office @ 203.922.3021 to set up an appointment. Registration is ongoing, please share with neighbors and family members.
For the safety of our students, I ask that no parent remove any cones that the school places in the driveway. These cones are placed specifically to ensure the safety of our students during recess. The paved hardtop and grass areas in the back are used during recess. Our last recess wave does not finish until 3:00pm. Our custodial staff will remove the cones.
Be like Pete the Tiger, wear your mask!

School Reward Programs
BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Box Tops for Education can be sent in to your classroom teachers anytime throughout the school year. Please submit them in an envelope whenever possible with your child’s name, teacher’s name and number of Box Tops written on the outside. The money we receive through this program will be used to purchase supplies for Sunnyside School. The more Box Tops we collect, the more educational supplies we can buy. The class that collects the most will earn extra recess time! Happy collecting!
