Club 45 At Home
Week 11 May 21-27
Big news! Club 45 worship team practice begins this week!
While this difficult stretch of time continues, God is doing some amazing things in Club 45! We've been enjoying gathering together Sundays at 10 and Thursdays at 4:30 by Zoom.
Two Club 45 friends enjoyed gathering so much that they started to meet together on Facetime nearly every day, just to hang out. Since we were sharing fun videos we had made with each other on Thursdays, these two gals took it to a whole new level when they started singing and playing together regularly...practicing a worship song to share.
This led to a wonderful Mother's Day Club 45 when these two led us all in a worship song!
Which brings me to my big news...
After we saw how great it was to have the Club 45ers lead worship, we thought...why not start a Club 45 worship team?!?!
This week, we're starting weekly Club 45 worship practice. It will happen on Zoom Friday May 22 at 4:30. We might play around with days and times, but the idea is to gather together, talk about God's heart for worship, and learn a song or two so that the Club 45ers will lead worship for us on our Sunday Zoom. Quite a few club 45ers already expressed that they want to join. We've got several kids who play ukulele, a keyboardist, some vocalists, and who knows what other musical skills among us!
I can't wait to see us all use our musical gifts to honor and love on God and lead others in worship! If you want to join us tomorrow, email me for the link.
Your weekly Club 45 lesson is below.
Love your Club 45 team,
Aaron, Andrea, and Tom
Gather up some family and let's do Club 45 at home!
Circle Time
Alright everyone, time to begin! Answer the following questions with your family:
- Your name
- Your number from 1-4 that tells us how you are...1 is not so good, 4 is great.
-
Share a quality that you think makes a person special or important.
Find it in the Bible
In a physical Bible, or in a Bible app like YouVersion, look up Matthew 18:1-5. Read it together. Think and talk about this:
- What do you think Jesus meant when he said this?
- How would you put it in your own words?
Worship Time
This is your time to just stop and sing to Jesus with your family. You can play a favorite worship song on your instrument or stream it and sing along. This is a time for you and your family to enjoy Jesus and meet him through song. Below are the two songs we are going to be working on in worship team practice. Why not sing one of them together?
Time for our Bible Story!
Last week we read about treasure: how Jesus sees us as his treasure and how our life is only complete when we see Jesus as our treasure. This week we’re going to learn about the importance of running to God and his love.
Troubles with uploading this week mean we get to hear the story from a guest speaker reading on YouTube.
Let's think about that a little bit!
- In today’s story, what did the disciples argue about?
- What are some of things that the disciples thought made them the most important helper to Jesus?
- How did God teach us to get his love?
- Who were the gift experts in today’s story?
- Who got between the kids and Jesus and what did they say?
- And what did Jesus say?
- Think about your life right now: what things do you feel you need to have or do to be special to other people and to Jesus?
Jesus wants us to run into his arms NOW. He’s not waiting for us to do anything special, say anything impressive, or look really attractive. He says to us right now, “Bring the little ones to me.” He’s telling us to run to him; there’s no obstacle course.
Quiet time - just you and Jesus
For this particular quiet moment, take a moment and take this in: we don’t need to impress Jesus to spend time with him.
What does it look like to spend time with Jesus? It’s a time to practice being in His presence, to slow down, practice hearing His voice and feeling His presence.
Our lives are full of so much noise and activity that sometimes it’s nice to just stop and listen for Jesus. Get comfortable, close your eyes and picture yourself with Jesus. Maybe picture you and Jesus by a lake, or sitting together on a rock, or curb, or in a flower patch. If you don’t have a picture, ask Jesus for one and he will show you! When we picture ourselves with Jesus in some way it helps our mind to focus on him instead of the other places our mind goes to like I’m hungry, I want to go home, I can’t wait to play with my friends later, or I love pizza and unicorns!
Settle in with Jesus and talk with him. He loves to hear from you and it’s the best part of his day to be with you in this way. Tell him your thoughts, your fears, your worries, your dreams, hopes….just like a best friend….he wants to hear it all. Sometimes you will feel Jesus in different ways. Maybe he gives you his thoughts on something like someone just put in your brain what they think…that’s Jesus. You may feel His peace like a warm heavy blanket was just put on you. Maybe you have a picture come to your mind. We all experience Jesus in different ways.
Communion
Communion is the family meal where we get together and remember that Jesus is our forever Passover lamb. Like the Israelites in the Old Testament, who lived because of the shed blood of the lamb on their doorpost, we live forever with Jesus because of his finished work on the cross.
Read 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, and then take the elements (usually a cracker and juice, but do whatever works!) with your family. Do this in memory of the Jesus who’s paid the greatest price for you, his greatest treasure.
Pray for each other
Who feels like they have to perform to get Jesus’ attention? How is the enemy using that lie –Jesus doesn’t have time for you– to get between you and Jesus? Jesus loves you with a forever love and he wants you to receive that, so let’s pray and run to Jesus with that!
