Media Center Update Dec. 1, 2017
What happens in the Media Center all day?
We Help You Find Answers & the Right Book!
I was able to broker AR (gratis) through the end of December, and our students are going strong with it. Fifth graders (and most of Ja'Nario's cousins) have started to take an interest in reading and testing, which is exciting.

My New Volunteer
Kiylah Hodgens' grandmother is helping to keep our shelves in order. Yay! (Not an easy task, when you circulate 1,978 books a month.)

Highlights of the Past Week
What is in the 700's section?
Arts and recreation books, specifically "How To Draw Books." Second and third graders learned that how to draw books are non-fiction books, since they provide instructions about how to do something. Students had a great time reading and following directions in order to create some original art.
Favorite Book from the Book Fair
Creepy Pair of Underwear by Aaron Reynolds, author of Creepy Carrots. We have the book in the media center now for check out (thanks, Ms. Thorne), and the kids love it. With a cover like this, how could you not?
Destiny.....Our Electronic Card Catalog
If you do not know how to use Destiny, please come and see me. I teach our students how to use it, and I want to make sure teachers know how to use it, too! The following is a really video about our Destiny system.
Suggested Book of the Week
You may have seen flyers around the building with a book suggestion of the week. I was introduced to a new PicMonkey flyer creation tool during a recently attended Tech Conference, and I wanted to put it to good use. So far, the students have checked out all of the copies of the suggested books!
