Fantastic Fourth Grade
Peek at the Week
Here is what is coming up next week!
Writing-We have finished up our poetry unit and will begin more creative writing. The students will be working on Harris Burdick stories. Here is a link to get some more information on who Harris Burdick is.
We will also do some writing that incorporates with our PBL on Bridges and then we will come back to Harris Burdick toward the end of the year.
Reading-We are beginning to read our class book "Among the Hidden" This will continue on for the remainder of the year.
Math-We have begun our last PBL on Bridges. The students will be using only flat toothpicks, glue, and cardboard to create a strong and sustainable bridge. They are working on a practice bridge now that we will hang weights from on Tuesday to see how much the bridge can hold. This will allow them to see what they need to improve. We will give them the opportunity to research and determine what makes a bridge strong and then they will create a second bridge to see if they are able to hold more weight on their bridge than the first time. They will use their knowledge of money to purchase supplies using a purchase order form and writing a check for their supplies, while also balancing their budget sheet.
Science- We are beginning our final unit on energy. This will be incorporated into the PBL on Bridges as students not only have to make a strong, sustainable bridge, but also figure out how they can incorporate alternative energy sources into their bridge to help make it beneficial to the environment.
Mrs. Ragland is going to be my sub for the remainder of the year. If you have any questions or need to talk to her, her email is Bridget_Ragland@roundrockisd.org
