Havelock North Primary School - 15th November 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Kia ora koutou,
A very warm welcome to our new students Zaney, Keziah, and Terry-Anne. Good on you for making such a positive start to school.
Stockco Blast in the Park
It was such a shame that the weather did not behave for the Stockco Blast in the Park last Friday. The committee had put in such a huge amount of effort, so it was really disappointing to have to cancel the event. I would like to thank the committee of Steve Gregory, Ali Neilson, Brendan & Steffi Bourke, Judi Godbold, Jodine McIntyre, John Steiner, Lauren Schnell, Matt Tod and Pippa Layton for their amazing work.
HNPS Tennis Tournament
Well done to all our students who took part in the school tennis champs held at Havelock North Tennis Club over the weekend. A huge thank you to Henry Wedd for his organisation and thank you also to those parents and family members who were able to support the kids on the day.
Peak Trail Blazer
Here's hoping for a fine day on Sunday for the Peak Trail Blazer. Catherine, Hilary, Jess, Vicky & Rebecca and their team who have done a wonderful job and we look forward to a great turnout for this awesome community event.
Community Consultation
Thank you to those of you who have filled out the survey. It is not too late and this information will be really useful for the Board when they do their strategic planning for 2023 and beyond.

Classes 2023
Student Placement Considerations
While we do not encourage parent requests, if there is something specific that we may not already know about your child that could impact our class placement decision making, please contact me at principal@hnps.school.nz by this Friday 18th November. From next week, teachers will be placing students into classes so we can not entertain any considerations after this point.
No Assembly
There is no school assembly this week due to the Year 4-6 Triathlon.
Quote of the week

Have a great week everyone.

School Library Books
All library books must be returned to school by Friday 25th November.
If books are not returned you will be sent an overdue notice and a bill for book replacement.
Year 6 students leaving our school, please ensure that you have returned our HNPS library books.
We appreciate your support with this.
Google Accounts for Students in Years 3-5
All students in Year 3 and above have their own individual Google accounts that are managed and created by the school. These are used for the purpose of school-based digital activities. Accounts are monitored by teachers to ensure students are using them appropriately.
As of the last day of school, Wednesday 14th December, we will no longer be able to monitor these accounts and will be suspending them for the holidays.
Students who are leaving HNPS will be able to transfer their work to a new account. Letters about this will be coming home soon.
Students who own their own chromebooks will still be able to make use of their device by using a home account or by logging on as a guest.
If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch kduligall@hnps.school.nz

**Peak Trail Blazer Countdown**
Only 5 days to go until the Peak Trail Blazer. The PTB team has been very busy pulling this event together. Entries are strong and everyone is getting behind our big school fundraiser which is very positive to see. It's always a fabulous family event, so if you haven’t entered make sure you register at www.peaktrailblazer.co.nz. There are still a few spots left on the Tainui Trail. We have finisher medals and over $3000 worth of spot prizes up for grabs. Registrations will be at the school hall from 12-2 pm on Saturday 19th November. We look forward to seeing everyone out there on Sunday morning supporting Havelock North Primary and Re-Source Charity. We are still looking for some volunteers to help with marshalling on Sunday morning. So please get in touch with Catherine Wedd on 0212886770 or peaktrailblazer@hnps.school.nz if you can spare some time.
Thanks to all those people who have put their hands up to help. We couldn’t do it without you.
Thanks
