SENIOR EXAM POLICY
● Seniors are to report for their exams only and must remain in the exam room for the entire exam period.
● The valedictorian and salutatorian are exempt from all final exams.
● All senior course work must be completed before Senior Exams begin on May 30, 2018.
● Attendance at the senior exams will be subject to the exam attendance policy expressed in the Student Handbook, p29.

Senior Activities 2018
SENIOR CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES
Senior Check-Out Cards will be distributed on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Seniors should return all books and materials and pay all fees either at the last day of scheduled classes or at the final exam. All matters subject to the Code of Conduct must be resolved with Mr. Boss prior to final checkout. Completed check-out cards will be due to the Main Office not later than 2:00 PM on June 1, 2018. No graduation materials will be distributed to any senior who has not completed the final checkout process.

Seniors are reminded that all behavioral expectations are in place during any NSHS event. Failure to comply may result in a student being barred from participating in graduation ceremonies on Friday, June 8, 2018.
SAT TEST DAY for Juniors is Tuesday, April 10, 2018
The State of Rhode Island has established Tuesday, April 10, 2018 as the SAT test date for all Rhode Island Juniors in public high schools. This is a free program for which students are already registered.
What to Bring
- Two (2) No. 2 pencils with erasers
- An approved calculator
- A drink or snacks (for your break)
What Not to Bring
- Any devices, including digital watches, that can be used to record, transmit, receive, or play back audio, photographic, text, or video content (with the exception of CD players used for Language with Listening Subject Tests only)
- Audio players/recorders, tablets, laptops, notebooks, Google Glass, or any other personal computing devices
- iPods or other MP3 players
- iPads or other tablet devices
- Laptops, notebooks, PDAs or any other personal computing devices
- Any texting device
- Cameras or any other photographic equipment
- Separate timers of any type
- Protractors, compasses, rulers
- Highlighters, colored pens, colored pencils
- Pamphlets or papers of any kind
- Dictionaries or other books—there are no exceptions, even if English is not your first language
- Food or drinks (except for during breaks), unless approved by the College Board’s Services for Students with Disabilities. Learn more about testing with accommodations.
PSAT TEST DAY for Sophomores is Wednesday, April 11, 2018
The State of Rhode Island has established Wednesday, April 11, 2018 as the PSAT test date for all Rhode Island Sophomores in public high schools. This is a free program for which students are already registered.

Final Exams
Final exams are scheduled from Tuesday, June 19 through Friday, June 22, 2018. High school students are required to report for their exams only and will be dismissed after their exams. Students must report to Advisory between exam periods if they have multiple exams that day. Transportation will be provided to school in the morning and from school at 2:05 p.m. Students who do not have transportation may stay in school after the exam period and study in the library. High school students who arrive to school on the morning bus should report to their exam or to the library if they do not have a first block exam. Lunch will be available at 11:25 a.m. for high school students. These students should report to the library after lunch until dismissal at 2:05 p.m. The following is the final exam schedule:

9:34-11:18: Make-up exams
Make-up exams will be scheduled beginning on Tuesday, June 19, 2018. Teachers will administer make-up exams beginning at 11:30 each day. The last day of school is Monday, June 25, 2018.
Students must turn in their textbooks in each class in order to take the exam in that class. Any student who does not turn in their textbook on time, will have to take a make-up exam. Exams not completed by the end of school will result in a zero for that exam grade.
If a student is absent during an exam, a parent/guardian must call the school prior to the exam (Please refer to the Exam Attendance Policy, Student Agenda, p. 29). Students can make up exams during the specified time or after daily exams have ended in consultation with the appropriate teacher.

Rhode Island Promise at CCRI
All 2018 Rhode Island high school graduates and GED recipients are eligible to pursue a tuition-free associate degree at CCRI providing that the RI General Assembly approves this budget item again for 2018-2019.
That's right: Regardless of your family income, you won't pay tuition.
Start the application process now.
- Apply to CCRI today.
- Fill out the FAFSA and complete your financial aid file. If you have any questions or need help, don't hesitate to contact the Rhode Island Educational Opportunities Center (RIEOC).
- Submit your official, final high school or GED transcript. Contact CCRI Admissions if you have any problems getting your transcripts or scores: webadmission@ccri.edu or 401-825-2003.
- Fill out the Rhode Island Promise attestation form.
Who is eligible for Rhode Island Promise?
- Rhode Island residents.
- 2018 high school graduates (public, private or homeschooled).
- 2017 and on GED recipients who were younger than 19 years old when the GED was completed.
How do I maintain the scholarship for two years?
- Enroll full time (15 credits strongly encouraged).
- Maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
- Earn 30 credits each year.
- Enroll each semester for two years. Fall and spring are required.

A free in-school immunization clinic will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 as part of the “Vaccinate Before You Graduate” program. Any student in grades 9 through 12 may receive free vaccinations to promote optimum health and immunization compliance. Details are available from Mrs. Ethier.

Advanced Course Network Summer Courses
The Advanced Course Network is excited to announce that for the first time it will be offering summer courses, beginning in summer 2018. Registration is now open for both Summer and Fall courses on www.RICourseChoice.org. Please note the following:
1. Registration will remain first-come-first-serve. Please encourage students to register as soon as they know they want to take a course. 2. Students will be eligible to take: a. one course over the summer, and; b. no more than two at a time in the fall. The ACN is designed to help Rhode Island schools create opportunities for public school students to identify, pursue and realize their individualized graduation pathway. Enriching experiences with advanced coursework help students get a head start on post-secondary success, master the skills required of a lifelong learner, and be prepared for jobs in sectors critical to Rhode Island’s future prosperity.
