Principal's Message

Dear Wakefield Middle School Families,

I continue to be impressed by the resilience of our students and staff who maintain a focused dedication to learning and connection. We are so grateful!

This past Thursday we held our second Family Academy Session, focused on Organizational Tips for your middle school student. We had great attendance at the virtual event but recognize that not everyone was available. The recording of the virtual presentation and additional resources are linked below. We hope they can are helpful for you and your family!

There is no Asynchronous Learning Day this week. Instead, Wednesday is a regular school day and Friday is a Teacher Workday. Our next Asynchronous Learning Day is March 24th. Beginning with that day and continuing with all future Asynchronous Learning Days, teachers will be scheduling small group live sessions for students who need additional help and/or have missing assignments. PLEASE remind your students to check their student email the week leading up to an Asynchronous Learning Day for individual invitations to these small group sessions.

Have a wonderful weekend!

School Messenger Update

Last week, WCPSS started to use a different set of contact information from PowerSchool. This change reset the preferences you saved in your parent SchoolMessenger account. Your SchoolMessenger contact preferences may look correct in your app or on the computer, but they are not correct behind the scenes.

Even if everything looks correct when you access your School Messenger account, you need to follow the steps below to ensure your contact preferences are recognized:

  1. Log into your SchoolMessenger account through the SchoolMessenger mobile app or https://go.schoolmessenger.com/.
  2. Click Menu icon and click Preferences.
  3. Click Wake County Public School System.
  4. Click each phone number listed (even if preferences look correct), review your contact preferences and click Save. Repeat for your email address.
  5. Click WCPSS Reminders.
  6. Click each phone number listed (even if preferences look correct), review your contact preferences and click Save. Repeat for your email address.
