-Soaring Falcons-
January 2022 Edition
Principal's Message
Dear Falmouth Falcon Families,
Happy 2022! I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break full of love and laughter! A tradition for beginning a new year is to often develop a New Year’s Resolution. Goals assist us in reflecting upon current circumstances and working toward improvement. As the previous year and a half have been like none we have ever experienced, I know that this new year will be full of promises of hope. Our goal at Falmouth Elementary is to continue demonstrating kindness and grace through all of our interactions with others and continue to encourage our students to learn and grow.
At Falmouth, we continue to work toward meeting the needs of students whether it be academic, behavioral, or emotional. Please let us know if you or your family is in need and we will work to get you the resources needed.
Additionally, I would like to share that we are entering the new year fully staffed. Stafford County Public Schools is very fortunate to have a collaborative relationship with the University of Mary Washington’s College of Education. As such, in the winter, we often have the opportunity to employ apprentice teachers. Apprentice teachers are eligible for a provisional license. Each apprentice teacher has completed one semester of student teaching and is hired to work within a classroom of his/her own for the spring semester. Additionally, apprentice teachers are screened by both the University of Mary Washington and Stafford County Public Schools and found to be talented in the field of education and highly recommended for this opportunity.
Falmouth Elementary School is privileged to benefit from this program and has hired Ms. Chloe Wade as Falmouth’s new art teacher. Ms. Wade is excited about joining the Falmouth Family. Beginning January 10th, she will be working with Mrs. Holliday, who has been substituting throughout the first semester. They will all work together for a week to ensure an easy transition for all students. Be on the lookout for more information from Ms. Wade in the February Newsletter.
In thanks,
Dr. Burch (FES Principal)

Counselors' Corner
How exciting to celebrate 2021! It’s been quite a year with many challenges but most importantly, many victories!
The Counseling Department will be focusing on goal setting for the month of January.
Goals come in many forms; they may be purely social, career oriented, academic, or even have to do with character building. Goal setting is not a skill that comes naturally, even for adults. Therefore, students will be taught how to choose, set, and reflect on goals through meaningful, classroom guidance activities. Let’s remember... a goal is just an area of weakness that needs to strengthen and then (the best part) celebrate the improvement!
Please do not hesitate to reach out to the Counseling Department for any needs your family may have. Mrs. Ami Brown (1, 3, 5) brownas@staffordschools.net and Mrs. Jenny Crane (K, 2, 4) at 540-373-7458 cranejl@staffordschools.net.
ITRT News
Hello again FES families,
Students are spending more time than ever online, and many families may be getting new devices this holiday season. With those things in mind I thought it would be a good time to focus on parental controls! Parental controls can help reduce the risk of your child encountering inappropriate content when they are online. Parental controls are available on most internet-enabled devices like computers, smartphones, tablets and gaming systems, as well as most apps and websites. When enabling parental controls, always use age-appropriate settings to filter, monitor, and block your child’s activities. The resources below will help you to set up the right controls and privacy settings on the networks, devices, apps, and websites your child may use to give them a safer online experience. You can also contact your internet service provider for more information on parental controls they offer.
