Summer Meals Assistance Program
It is time to register for the Fishers Youth Assistance Summer Meals Program for families in need. This program will provide grocery items for breakfast and lunch for five days during the weeks of May 31st through July 19th. We are pleased to announce that our program is moving to its new and permanent site at 8766 E 96th St, Fishers, IN 46037 (Old Mash building). Weekly pick up day is currently unknown due to difficulties with scheduled food delivery. We will notify registrants as soon as we know this information. To be part of this program you must sign up by May15th 2022. The program will be limited, so please register early.
Scouting for Food
One in eight Hoosier adults and one in seven Hoosier kids go hungry each day. The mission of Scouting for Food helps combat that hunger while providing Scouts a tremendous service opportunity to put their boots on the ground and help fight food insecurity.
This year’s goal for the Crossroads of America Council is 75,000 pounds of food.
Cub scout pack 109 is collecting non-perishable food items which will be given to the Good Samaritan Network to replenish food pantries. We are asking FES students to join in this valuable service opportunity and help us by donating at least one item and placing it in the box inside the school entrance. This is your opportunity to partner with the scouts to help feed families in our community.
The final day for drop off is Thursday the 28th of April. Thank you.
4th Grade Families
We recently received word from our intermediate school partners about changes to the plans for our 4th grade students transitioning to 5th grade next year. This year, the district is challenged with not having enough drivers for study trips/transition visits. This is compounded by the dates of various required assessments (ILEARN testing/makeups are April 18 through May 13, NWEA is May 9-May 17) as well as the date that school dismisses for the summer (May 20). After working through various options for scheduling, we were not able to find a date that would work for all the schools involved. This year, our 4th grade students will have the following opportunities to prepare for the transition to intermediate school and 5th grade:
- Welcome Tour/Videos
- All intermediate videos will be shared with the elementary school on May 9th.
- 4th grade classrooms will view the video from the school they will be attending next year.
- These videos will be shared with families to view at home.
- There will not be an evening parent visit this spring.
- Intermediate School “Open House”
- All intermediate schools will have a time available for families to tour the building independently. Watch for communication from your student’s intermediate school on the timing of that open house.
- Meet the Teacher
- First full week of school as normal
- Specific time for families to hear about their student’s team, classroom, and school focuses/expectations.
- Look for communication from your student’s intermediate school with details on the specific date and time for this event.
Fishers Elementary School is having College/Career exploration starting next week through the end of April. If you are interested in talking with your child's class about your job or career, please let the teacher know asap!
Here are some ways you can get involved:
- Schedule a time to come in and talk with the class
- Make a short video that the teacher could share about your job/ career
- Set up a zoom call with the class.
- Send in some information to the teacher about your job/career
Some things that you could talk about are the skills your job requires, what kind of education is required to have your job, what a day on your job looks like, or anything else that can get the students thinking about their futures.
We would love to have a wide variety of jobs and careers represented for our students so please consider getting involved!
We will also have a spirit week to celebrate our College and Career learning.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK!
May 2nd – May 6th , teacher appreciation week (May 2-6), the FES PTO would like to partner with our parents to do something a little extra special this year for our teachers and staff to show our appreciation for all their hard work, effort, and patience with our kiddos! At the end of teacher appreciation week, we would like to give every teacher & staff member a gift card(s) in the amount of $25. Between teachers and support staff there are 56 people who have worked tirelessly for our kids this school year, and along with some of the other exciting things we have planned for that week, we'd love to give everyone a little something extra. We are asking for families to donate gift cards, in any amount $25 or less and from any store. Some suggestions: Starbucks, Target, Amazon, Jimmy John's, Dunkin'. . . Essentially anything. They can be dropped off at the school's office until 2:30pm on Wednesday, May 4th. If you drop off the gift cards at the school, please put them in an envelope marked for the PTO.
Don't have time to go get gift cards but still want to participate? Donate any amount through our PayPal account - Fisherstreasurer@gmail.com. Just sign into PayPal and you can donate any amount to the FES PTO. We'll use that money to purchase gift cards for our awesome staff. Thank you so much!!
We are back for a great night to end the school year - MOVIE Night! Save the date for Friday, May 6th.
