Keenan Media Center Updates

March 2013

New Additions to the Media Center

Keenan's media center now has five original prints by author/illustrator Bryan Collier! The first print (right), "A Potter's Touch," was purchased by Ms. Boyd, Media Specialist, during Mr. Collier's visit in November. Principal, Alvin Pressley, recently purchased four additional prints that were hung by Samuel Jeffrey, custodian and Keenan's 2013-2014 Classified Employee of the Year. The media staff is most appreciative to Mr. Pressley for our new additions.

Destiny Catalog

Keenan students, faculty and staff are now able to search the Destiny catalog using a free standing computer designated solely for that purpose.

Students are rapidly becoming more independent in their search for books owned by Keenan and Richland County School District One. Having a free standing Destiny catalog eliminates the wait time required to login to a computer to perform a search.

Now that everyone is able to login to Destiny using their ID and password, they are able to search the entire district and reserve books through Inter Library Loan (ILL). We are working with IT and Diana Carr to set up the system so that students, faculty and staff will receive an email when books placed on hold are ready for pickup. Real world experiences in a global society.
