October School and District Improvement Tasks
- Local Assessment Data Analysis
- Collect student demographic data
MICIP and MiDataHub
I highly recommend attending the Fall 2019 Continuous Improvement Conference (formerly known as the School Improvement Conference) on November 18 - 19. The MDE will use this stage to continue to move the MICIP process forward. As of now, the focus has been on mindset and process with a de-emphasis on the platform (such as Assist). As a reminder, we will still use Assist for all school improvement processes this year.
The state is also working to integrate several data sources and are encouraging all districts to get connected to the MiDataHub so they are ready to use all the MICIP resources once they are created and available.
October State & Federal Program Tasks
- October is a great time for your Annual Title I Parent Meeting. Benchmark assessments are done and parents are being notified of their child's Title I status. This meeting is supposed to be held at the begining of the year to inform parents about the Title I program and get input on your Parental Involvement Plan. Here is a presentation you can use. Feel free to modify for your school.
- Count day is in October. Use this time to get your at-risk students identified (marked "3060") in MSDS. It is beneficial from an accountability standpoint to ensure every At Risk student is identified and counted.
- Speaking of count day and 31a - it is absolutely essential that free and reduced lunch counts are accurate. If you are a Community Eligibility school or district, you must still collect income information from parents so student SES status is correctly documented. This is tied directly to your 31a funding.
