Hawk Squawk 3/10/22
On Monday, March 14, masks at Hallinan, and throughout the District, including on our buses, will become optional for all students, staff and family members. We know many families are very excited to take off their masks and see each other's smiles. We also know that many families are not ready to forgo face coverings just yet. To wear, or not wear, a face covering is a personal decision and our learning community will support your family's choice.
All students will be able to eat lunch together in their classroom, keeping three feet apart whenever possible. Students will continue to wash their hands before and after eating lunch and classes may eat outside when weather permits. Students who need or want increased distancing should talk with their teachers.
Teachers will show this video to classes this week. We encourage you to watch this video at home and discuss your household's plan with your child prior to Monday. Visit the LOSD COVID-19 Information page for more information and FAQs.
We want everyone to feel like they belong at Hallinan. To ensure this, staff, students and families may not ask others to wear or not wear face coverings/masks.
Thank you for your partnership!

Hallinan Book Fair
Save the Date - We are excited to announce we will be having a Spring Book Fair, April 4 – 8!
Parents and Students will be able to shop the fair in-person and online. Look for Book Fair details, including events and hours, in next week’s Hawk Squawk and Student’s go home folders.
All money earned at this PTO-sponsored event goes back to our library. It will be a busy and fun-filled time that can only operate smoothly with the help of many wonderful volunteers. Shifts as short as 2 hours will be available - we hope you will join us as a shopper and a volunteer! Be on the lookout for a SignUpGenius next week.

Registration for the 2022-23 school year (all grade levels) is open! This is for new students who have never enrolled in Lake Oswego before and for returning students who are not currently enrolled but will re-enroll for next year. Registration is online through ParentVUE. Parents do not need to register students for 2022-23 who are currently attending during the 2021- 22 school year. Information about registration, including Spanish Immersion, can be found here.
Families of students who will be entering kindergarten in the fall of 2022 can find information about Kindergarten, including how to register, on the Hallinan Kinder Counts pre-recorded video on the Hallinan website.
As part of LOSD’s efforts to create a culture of belonging and to achieve equitable academic outcomes, we will once again administer the Youth Truth survey to all staff, parents, and students in grades 3-12. The Family Survey link is ytsurvey.org/losdfamily22, is now open and is accessible through March 25. The YouthTruth survey is confidential, and responses from children and parents will be held in the strictest confidence. We encourage everyone to participate. This will be an important piece of information for administrators to improve our students' experiences at school.
Elementary students in grades 3-5 will also complete the survey between February 28 and March 25. This is a vital opportunity for students to provide feedback and help guide the school’s improvement plan. The survey will take 15-30 minutes to complete and will be offered during school hours.
*Please note that parents may opt their child out of the survey if they would like. Click here for the opt-out form.
