VSTE Top 5
Monday and Tuesday this week, I attended and presented at the VSTE (Virginia Society for Technology in Education) conference. I attended many great sessions and networked with many connected educators from across Virginia.
- Teachers can't just use technology as a cool tool. You have to focus on the learning targets first. "Pedagogy is the driver. Technology is the accelerator.” - Michael Fullan
- Kids are the "Netflix" generation. They are used to High Demand High Quality content, and that needs to be delivered at school as well. They should not feel they have to "power down" when they come in the building.
- Every child in our classrooms and in our schools is someone else’s whole world. Do you teach as if your kids were in your class?
- In just a few short years, every student in our schools will be a 21st century learner and none of our teachers will be.
- The most important reason to change, to go digital, is for the students.
#Truth. Time to get uncomfortable...

What's Happening?
- Ms. Cameron's class went on Safari again this week! Using what they've learned, they were able to ask the safari guides amazing questions incorporating some of their science vocabulary. @WindsorWoodsES
- Hour of Code is worldwide this week, and many of our teachers and students participated! Coding is the language of now and it teaches you how to think! We saw students determined to problem solve, collaborate with their peers, and find intrinsic motivation in completing a task. Special thanks to
