Time Limit Update
TEA has removed the time limit on STAAR. This is already in effect and will apply to December EOC testing as well. This is the wording from TEA in the DCCR under updates: Based on feedback from educators, parents, and students, as well as other changes to the STAAR program, TEA is removing the maximum time allowed for STAAR assessments. Districts will no longer have to stop students from testing after a four- or five-hour testing period. Students are expected to complete STAAR tests in about three hours; however, any student who needs additional time may continue testing until the end of the school day.
More information will be coming at our DTC trainings, but I wanted to ensure you had this information in planning for testing and for accommodation meetings. Extra Time is not an accommodation for this year, however Extra Day is still an option with an ARF.
District Testing Coordinator Trainings
These session will cover the required TEA training for STAAR, TELPAS, STAAR ALT, and Accommodation Updates. This would be an excellent training for Diagnosticians, 504 coordinators, and other members of teams where accommodation and assessment decisions are made!
Texas Through- year Assessment Pilot (TTAP)
An email for TTAP schools was sent to their DTC on September 20th from TEA. This email had important communication, dates, and documents for TTAP LEAs. If you did not receive this, let Ashley know and she will forward it to you.
Assessment Calendar and Accommodation Cheat Sheet
This accommodation sheet groups all of our accommodations in one place and might be helpful to you as you make accommodation decisions across multiple testing platforms.
STAAR ALT 2 Email - From TEA
"The purpose of this communication is to provide an update on the missing materials list you received on Thursday, September, 22, 2022. Included within your missing materials list were STAAR Alternate 2 image cards. These materials were not intended to be included and you will receive an updated list of outstanding materials by the end of today, Friday September, 23, 2022. If your list was composed entirely of STAAR Alternate 2 image cards you will not receive an updated list today and the previous communication may be disregarded. texastestingsupport@cambium.com."
Many DTCs have reached out to me with concerns about this issue and the email received last week. The clarification from TEA should alleviate most concerns. If you still need guidance, I am happy to help.

DECEMBER 2022 STAAR - from Cambium
Update Student Eligibility - Districts should ensure that all students eligible for end-of-course (EOC) assessments have been added to the Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) by October 6, 2022. All eligible students must be registered in TIDE for retester flags to be set. All students participating in the December 2022 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) administration should have the December EOC Eligibility field set to “Yes” in TIDE. Student eligibility must be added before the deadline so that the correct number of test administrator manuals are shipped to districts.
Indicate Students Eligible for Paper Administrations- If a student is eligible for a special paper administration of an online assessment, ensure that the Special Ed Indicator Code or Section 504 Indicator Code is set to “Yes” in TIDE. District personnel must also set the student’s Test Mode to “Paper” and make the appropriate Paper Test Format selection. If these settings are not entered correctly by October 6, 2022, for students who need to test on paper, materials for these students will not be shipped with initial orders.
Initial order materials quantities will be available for verification by districts. These quantities are calculated based on students flagged appropriately and are updated nightly. Districts must confirm sufficient quantities by October 6, 2022. If additional paper materials are required after this deadline, district personnel will be responsible for entering their own counts during the additional order window.
Out-of-District (OOD) and Out-of-School (OOS) Test Site Registration - The STAAR Out-of-School and Out-of-District Test Site Registration Form for the December 2022 STAAR administration is available now through October 7, 2022. Districts must register each participating OOD and OOS test site in the test site registration form.
