COVID-19 Updates and Resources
Testing and Vaccination
Parents and students, as positive cases rise in our state we urge you and your family to stay safe and keep others safe. If your student is sick, please keep them home. If your family is able to test do so. We have made tests available for students with symptoms here at school. We have a button above for you to use(other languages also available) to report if your student or a family member has tested positive. It is very important to report it to us so we can determine if other students were also near your child and should remain home and isolate.
Testing and vaccine resources and other information about reducing the spread of COVID-19 is available on our website at spps.org/Page/42854. Weekly testing is encouraged for everyone, either at SPPS buildings on Tuesdays, at community testing locations or through free at-home test kits through Vault Health. Rapid test kits are prioritized for sending home with symptomatic students, because that’s when they work best. Additional rapid test kits have been ordered and will be available soon for both students and staff.
Find upcoming vaccine clinics at spps.org/covidvaccine.
Rapid COVID-19 Tests for Students
The Rapid Antigen BinaxNOW test kits that are available for students work best when there are symptoms present. Testing due to close contact may lead to a false negative result. Because of this, SPPS has prioritized our test kit supply for symptomatic students and may not be able to support routine testing on an ongoing basis depending on our supplies.
Please let your families know that rapid kit distribution will be prioritized for sending home with students who have symptoms of COVID-19. For routine testing, families should be advised to use other testing resources in the community including their healthcare provider, local pharmacies and community test sites. They can also order test kits online for testing at home through Vault Health.

Martin Luther King Jr
MLK - Going Deeper
Dr. Martin Luther King was an incredible leader for equity, justice and human rights. It’s valuable to share his legacy with our students, but too often these lessons are limited to the superficial facts of his life and work. Here are some resources that allow you to dig deeper with your students to explore the enduring power of Dr. King’s work and vision for a more just society.Student Calendar
