What Will We Be Learning This Week?
Math
Science
Students completed Science Studies Weekly (SSW) #2 - "Ecosystems" this week.
Next week, we will begin our discussion of animal adaptations with a Virtual Expedition to the Borneo Rain Forest in Southeast Asia and the San Diego Zoo. We are excited to provide students the opportunity to experience virtual reality in our own media center. Students will learn the difference between a physical adaptation and a physical adaptation and how they help a species to survive.
Language Arts
We will be writing poetry inspired by The Best Part of Me. These poems will help students to find value in themselves and inspire a sense of self-worth. We will display these poems in the hall outside our room once completed.
We will not have spelling this week.
Social Studies
Students will study the Algonquian tribes of the coastal plains. They will identify things that were characteristic of the tribes of this region, such as moccasins, wigwams, types of pottery and canoes. Students will also study marriage traditions of the Algonquians, how family history was traced in these tribes and the religious beliefs they practiced.
