Glenealy School Newsletter
17th September 2020
Message from Chris
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope that our whole community had a good week.
I shared the positive news that the EDB has approved our plan for a ‘phased return’ and that all children will be returning to school over the coming two weeks. We also had the very positive experience of welcoming our Year 1 children back to school this week. They have been confident, enthusiastic and very excited to be back.
It has been great to have children on the school site once again and look forward to more returning in due course.
Following my writing to you earlier this week, I would like to provide a few reminders for parents as we prepare to return to on site learning.
School Uniform
New uniforms can be ordered online at www.schooluniform.hk and will be delivered to your home address. Direct sales, exchanges and returns are available at their retail outlet in Lai Chi Kok - directions can be found on the uniform website. Uniform fittings will be by appointment only.
We are providing appointments for parents to come and try on uniforms in our new ‘Community Hub’ building following strict CHP and EDB health and safety guidelines. Please email Becky at pta@glenealy.net to make an appointment.
Return to School
If you want to find detailed information about our ‘phased return’, please visit our dedicated Return to Glenealy School September 2020 website here. We hope you find all you need to know for a seamless return to school in its pages. Please email or call the school office if you have any questions that are not answered on the website.
The ESF App
Our data tells us that the vast majority of families have now downloaded the ESF App. This App is a great way to keep in touch with all communications from the school and from ESF.
If you haven’t done so already, please download this from your app provider. Please note it can be used by more than one person in your household so you can all keep in touch with school communications.
Upon return to the school site, you will need to register your child’s temperature on the ESF App every day before your child sets out to school. Later in the year the App will contain further information about accessing your child’s school report along with it being used to notify parents of events and provide reminders and key foundation wide messages. If you have any questions about using the App, please contact tech@glenealy.edu.hk.
School Buses
The school buses will run each school day from the 23rd September 2020 onwards. If your child takes the school bus, the bus company will have been in contact with you already. If you are new to the school and are interested in your child taking the school bus, more information about how to register for a place on the bus can be found on the Kwoon Chung Motors website here. For additional help you may call their office on 2979-8798 or email them on gjs@kcm.com.hk
In the morning children will be escorted by the bus supervisor via the main gate onto the school grounds. Students using the school buses at the end of the school day will be either taken to the bus by their class EA (Years 1 and 2) or go directly to their buses through the gate in the covered car park at 12:30 pm.
New Admin Team Member
I would like to introduce the community to Kay Lau who is our new school Finance Officer and will be working with our team in the school office.
Kay lived in Australia for more than ten years before settling back in Hong Kong this year. She studied in both Melbourne and Sydney and received her Masters degree in Finance from The University of Sydney. After that she worked as the Accounts Officer for two different schools in Sydney, Australia. We are very happy to welcome Kay to the Glenealy team and she is looking forward to meeting everyone soon.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we are looking forward to welcoming our Year 1, 2 and 3 children joining our Year 1s ‘on site’ next week.
Best regards,
Chris
