Be a Good Role Model

Young children learn a great deal about how to act by watching you. The younger they are, the more cues they take from you. Before you lash out or blow your top in front of your child, think about this: Is that how you want him/her to behave when they are angry? Be constantly aware that you are being observed by your children. Studies have shown that children who hit usually have a role model for aggression at home.

Model the traits you wish to cultivate in your child: respect, friendliness, honesty, and kindness. Exhibit unselfish behavior. Do things for other people without expecting a reward. Express thanks and offer compliments. Above all, treat your children the way you expect other people to treat you.

We want your child to have the opportunity to try many new things in P.E. using the right "tools"! In order for this to occur, we need all students to dress appropriately on their P.E. day/s:

  • Athletic shoes that provide the proper support and cushion necessary for students to perform at their highest level. Shoes need to fully cover the heel and toes to help prevent or minimize injuries. We stress to the students that shoes need to be tied tightly and securely around their feet. Please NO: flip flops, sandals, boots, dress shoes, crocs or “Heelys”.
  • In addition, students need to come to class in clothing that is comfortable and unrestrictive. If students are not dressed properly for class, students will not be able to participate on that day and will not earn their full daily points toward their overall grade.
  • Please check with your child’s teacher and/or school planner to see when your child has P.E. during the week.
