*-*-*-*What a Wonderful Partnership*-*-*-*
We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful partnership in our community. While our transition a few weeks ago to hybrid learning for nearly 400 students came with some uncertainty and trepidation, our partnerships have really set us and our students up for success. Overall, we feel we did a good job of making plans and procedures in advance of students returning to campus, but all would not have gone nearly as well as they have without your input, grace, and help in refining things. Thank you!
We are now in a position to strengthen our collaboration even more as we have conferences coming up in just about a week. Teachers have sent out invites and should have those dates and times set with each family. This year we are sticking with our Zoom conferences to help ensure everyone's safety. If you have not yet locked in that date and time to Zoom with your students teacher, please do so as soon as possible. Students should plan to join the Zoom conference.
In preparation for conferences, Wednesday March 3rd will be a half day so that staff can prepare. All students, both in Hybrid and Remote Only, will only have school up until 12:00 noon. We will begin dismissing Hybrid B students from the gym at 12:00 noon. We plan to dismiss Stage I bus riders at 11:55 and Stage II bus riders at around 12:05, depending on when buses arrive. This same process will repeat on Wednesday, March 10th as that is a half day for conferences as well. There is a bit more information below, but feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Please take a thorough look at the information below along with our websites. Feel free to reach out with question if you still have any.
Kind regards,
Don Sims

STUDENT CONFERENCES ARE COMING!
Student conferences are taking place via Zoom on October 10th, 11th, and 12th. These conferences are for all Kindergarten through 5th grade students and their families. Students should be active participants in the conference. Teachers are working to get these scheduled by the end of this week. On Wednesday, 3/10, is a half day and students will attend school until 12:00. The remainder of the day on Wednesday, 3/10 will be dedicated to scheduled conferences. On March 11th and March 12th, students will not attend school. During these two days (3/11 & 3/12) students will only need to attend their Zoom conference and not their regular Zoom classes. Attendance will be taken based on participation in the conference.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your student's teacher(s) or to us in the office.
{-}-{-}-{-}-{-} Exciting News for PE {-}-{-}-{-}-{-}
I wanted to give everyone a heads up as well regarding a change coming our way on Tuesday, March 16th. As we planned the return of students to a hybrid model of learning we made a decision to have our specialist teachers (PE, Art, Music, Library) all move to the grade level classrooms to teach their content. After careful consideration of our safety protocols, student activities, and classroom space, we have make the decision to allow student to have PE in the gymnasium beginning March 16th.
A few key things we considered in this decision included the fact that the gym is a much larger space with taller ceilings, students will continue to wear masks & be socially distanced, as well as regular cleaning of equipment. In keeping with our protocols to limit movement within the building, we will have students move from their classroom to the gym via the exterior of the building, much like how they travel to and from recess. Students are always encouraged to bring at least one extra mask each day, but especially for the days they have PE. Students will be provided a surgical face mask by Mr. Sinnes for PE if they don't have an extra.
At this point PE is the only specialist that will change. We will continue to monitor our safety procedures and progress with community infection rates throughout implementation. At the end of March or beginning of April, we will look to review the potential for changes to Art and Music. Along with this great news for Mr. Sinnes and PE, he will also be running our annual Kids Heart Challenge. Please take a look at each of the links below for more information.
