Hello families!
I hope you are enjoying your summer thus far and making memories with your children. We are excited to welcome the students back next month!
Class placements will be sent out this week so keep an eye out for those in the mail. Staff members spend a great deal of time in the spring and summer generating class lists. Staff members involved in class placements involve the general education teachers, special education staff, school psychologist, school social worker, related service providers and the principal. When determining class placements, the following is taken into consideration:
- The learning style of the child and the teaching style of the teacher.
- Any special educational needs of the child that must be met.
- Personality compatibility and teaching style of the child and the assigned teacher.
- Social and personal interactions between children being assigned to a given class.
- Balance of class sizes and achievement levels within a class to develop a heterogeneous group.

Changes to Student Drop Off
For the upcoming school year, parents/guardians will drop students off in the back parking lot of the school (off of Clark Street). Students will be permitted into the building at 7:58 a.m. Parents/guardians are not permitted to park and walk their child to their classroom. School staff will be located at the entrance to help and support students should it be needed. Students who arrive late will need to be signed in by a parent/guardian with main office staff upon arrival. Any student who arrives after 8:10 is considered tardy.
Parents/guardian pick up at the end of the day will continue to take place in the back parking lot (off of Clark Street).
Changes in Breakfast and Lunch
Breakfast and lunch will no longer be provided to all students at no charge.
The state, however, has increased funding for school districts to provide meals at no charge for qualifying students. Any student who qualifies for reduced or free lunch will receive meals at no charge.
The district highly recommends that families complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application. Understanding that families all come from different spaces and have been impacted by the pandemic and inflation differently, we urge families to complete the form.
As soon as this form is updated the district will be sending it out to all families.
Curriculum Night
This is an annual event for parents/guardians only. We invite parents/guardians to meet their child's teacher and learn about the grade level curriculum and learn about a typical school day.

Car Tag Pick Up
If you are planning to pick up your student(s) from Burton Street at dismissal you will need a car tag. Car tags hang on the rear view mirror of the car and match a student tag on their backpack. Student pickup will take place in the back parking lot (off of Clark Street). Students are dismissed from their classrooms at 2:28pm. Any student being picked up from school on a regular basis (even if only specific days of the week) will need a car tag.
Each family will be given two matching car tags.
Car tag distribution will take place on the following days, during summer office hours at Burton Street:
Tuesday, August 9
Wednesday, August 10
Monday, August 29
Tuesday, August 30
Summer office hours:
- Monday-Thursday 8am-12pm, 12:30pm-3pm
- Friday: 8am-12pm, 12:30pm-2:30pm
Contact the main office if you are not able to make the times listed above and accommodations will be made.
