Our Mission
Principal's Message
Hello EMS Community,
I hope you all have had a fun and relaxing weekend. With only two weeks remaining in the school year, we are gearing up for a busy ending.
SBAC is complete and we are looking forward to getting our scores back and seeing some positive results. Unofficial results typically come back two weeks after students complete the test but scores aren't official until somewhere around mid-summer. Thank you to all of you who prepared your student, whether it was making sure they got a good balanced meal, having a conversation/pep talk about doing their best, or giving them some last minute tutoring about concepts they were confused about. Also, thank you to all parents who volunteered their time coming in during testing to pass out snacks during scheduled breaks. I'm confident that collectively, we allowed for a more positive testing environment this school year.
This Friday will be a unique experience for our students as they'll be a part of a tradition that we started last year. On Friday at 11:30, the GHS senior graduates will be arriving at EMS and walking through the halls as they celebrate, reflect and reminisce on how far they've come. Our teachers and students will be lining up on both sides of all hallways as we clap our senior graduates through celebrating their accomplishments. It will be a powerful moment for not only our Glencoe graduates, for our EMS future graduates as well.
Eighth grade parents, see below some updated information regarding 8th Grade Promotion.
Below are several photos and information that will keep you up to date on the happenings around Evergreen.
Enjoy your week!!

This Week's Schedule
6/3 Advisory Schedule
6/4 Regular Bell Schedule
6/5 Academic Seminar
6/6 Regular Bell Schedule (Parent Club @9am)
6/7 Assembly Bell Schedule (AVID Field trips)
8th Grade Promotion - Friday, June 14th
We will be having our 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on the morning of June 14th in assembly format at 9am. Our 8th graders will be seated on the floor in the gym as they have in years past. Our 7th graders will be seated in the stands/bleachers as they will also celebrate their 8th grade peers.
Due to construction here at EMS, our parking is extremely limited and most of our hallways will be under construction and shut off. Visitors/Parents will be directed to enter through the main entrance and taken down the green hallway and directly into the gymnasium.
It's important to know that we will have a limited amount of seating for our parents. Our 7th graders will consume half of the bleachers and parents will be seated in the other half. We also will designate the area on the gym floor, behind our 8th graders, for parents however we will have a limited amount of chairs. We usually are able to reserve extra chairs from the district but all chairs will be in use that day by schools so we are limited to our own.
It's important to know that not all students will be receiving an award. We'll be recognizing students who have had academic success (3.0 GPA or higher throughout middle school) and those who have chosen to receive special recognition by their teachers. The assembly will begin at 9am and will last about 45 minutes.
Again, parking will be limited. I would recommend parking in the nearby neighborhood or walking if you live close. We apologize for the inconvenience but we are under major construction and a large part of our school property will be closed off.
June 14th - Last Day of School
End of the Year To-Do: Student Medication Pick Up/Check lost & Found
Dear Parents,
Hillsboro School District policy requires that any student medications, including inhalers, not retrieved by the end of the school year be destroyed. District policy also states that students may not bring medications home; they must be picked up by the parent. June 14 will be the last day medications will be held for pick up.
If you have any questions please call main office and as to speak to Ms. Zacarias
(503) 844-1400
Also we have a pile build up in the commons with lost and found articles, please come in the morning before school or after school.

Monday's with Mox Video
Each Monday during Advisory, students watch an episode of Monday's with Mox. As most of you already know, Mox is our amazing School Resource Officer (SRO) who has taken on the task of developing weekly videos to engage our students in topics that are relevant to Evergreen. Our 7th grade Counselor, Carol Anderson, will be teaming with Mox all year long to create the videos. Click on the link below to see our latest episode of the school year.
